Although the storm of this morning scattered things generally there, all the damage, which was slight, ha- been since repaired. Mf. Charles W. Cunningham was yesterday and to day engaged putting tip the gas nxture's on the grand carnival arch, and his work win add much to the beauty of the arch when light ed up. A large star of gas jets and thirteen clusters and the same number of smaller stars appear on either side. The predominating colors on the arch are gTeen and bine, an I with tie mottoes, flags, Ac., the arch itself will be worth a journey to see. ITOHTTWO TH* AVBXrB. Leaving out the archway and the decorations on private buildings, tbe avenue at night will be one grand blaze of light, and doubtless wilt eclipse an>thing of the kind yet seen on ttt.s continent. At each of the 112 gas lamps between the Capitol and 1Mb street there will be ?even burners, by means of a pipe thrown four feet ontsideof the curb. Besides these, lines of wires have been atmng along the avenue, on which will be Chinese and other colored lights. THB balls. There will be a great variety or costumes at the masked ball at the National Theater fn Tuesday evening, and many of them will be rich and elegant. Some unique deslgna are spoken of. and the decorations and cootumes will be worth seeing. A limited numl>er fit spectators will be admitted to the paninette. .lrese circle and galleries.
