Th* New York Central Corhrred ai Last?The Collector at Albany Ordered to Levy # their Property?In 1868 the Commissioner o: Internal Revenue decided that the New York Central railroad was liable to a tax on a stock dividend declared in that year. The compam resisted the imposition of the tax, and several monlhs ago, through their attorneys. argue<. against it. Commissioner Douglass, however affirmed the ruling of his predecessors, and held them liable for the tax. which amounts in all to between woo ,000 and MOO,000. New York, t> levy on the property of the road, when the com pany alleged that by an act of the New York legislature they consolidated with the Hudsoi rive- railroad, thus forming a new company which could not be held liable for the debts o: the old Central company.
