Wall Street. 1:88 p. m.?The Post says: The stock market this forenoon was both dull and weak. The volume ot trading was even smaller than yesterday forenoon, and yet prices declined throughout the forenoon with scarcely anything to be called a reaction during the two hours and a h&l* to 12:30. The confidence of the general public has been greatly shaken by the recent numerous defaults of Interest and appointment of receivers for great properties like the Reading. It Is also being shaken still more by the recent decline In Union Pacific and by the rumors now in circulation regarding the contents of the report of the government expert on the condition of that company. Aside from these points there has been no improvement In the general trade and industrial situation to encourage investments ot any kind. The market for railroad bonds was dull and prices were generally lower. The Baltimore Markets* BALTIMORE. HOCSE DEMOCRATS OX THE SITUATION. Tlae Raid on Cleveland and Knyard? The lE)idall Men VI ore Hopeful?'f litNew York Conundrum. The anti-Cleveland men are putting In their last Ucks with the hope of defeating his candidacy. Not only the Flower men are working against lam, but all those who have other candidates are uniting their forces to cry him down. The Bayard men are making a desperate effort to counteract the effector the publication of the Dover speech and the more recently dlscuvered speech In which the Delaware statesman reterred to the refusal of the republican Congress to pay loyal states for their slaves set free, as an act of repudiation. Those, however, who have Tor swne time been fearful of the Senator's strength in New York, growing oyt of the supposed preference of .lohn Kelly, Belze upon this quite eagerly, and refuse to .accept any explanation, saving that what they want is a man who will not have to explain. The southern men In particular say they think Bayard Is now out of the question. This is encouraging, particularly to the Randall men, who have been reviving the Pennsylvania's boom during the past twenty-four hours, Thev count upon Cleveland's being klll<-d off by Flower, and say that Randall is then the only available man In the east?"and." they add, '-the only man who has his state undivided." The New York men are very much mixed, and many say to-day that they do not believe t he candidate will come from that state. They all agree generally that to present the name of Flower would mean, as If they had said It in so many words, that no New York man was to have the prize. Another opinion they are unanimous in Is that the delegation will go to Chicago unlnstructed. This is as far as they can agree. The Cleveland men say that the unit rule will be In force and their man will get the entire state, v\ hlle the anti-Cleveland men say that the delegates will vote as they please and a minority will do big work. Waldo Hutchlns returned to his seat to-day. but he has very little to say about the situation in New Y'ork, except that it Is so mixed that no one can tell tnythlng about it. Mr. S. 8. Cox says, this morning, that he thinks the nomination will go to the west, and prob.iblv Thurman will get It. Thunnau and Slocurn would be the ticket. The western men, however, sav that Cleveland Will certainly get the nomination. They say the country outside of New Y'ork will be so ununlmou-.lv for him that the New Y'ork delegates will all yield to the pressure. Tlie Squier Failure. an application made for the appointment of a receive k. This afternoon Messrs. Cook ? Cole and Mr. A. cRichards, for Thlan C. Crawford, filed a bill In equity against J. H. Squler and J. B. Smith for a receiver, and an injunction to restrain the defendant from disposing of his property. The bill Is filed by Mr. Crawford for himself and such other creditors as may come in. He states that he had about $1,925 deposited with Squler & cm; that I on June 7th Squler made a pretended assignment to Jay B. Smith, which he claims was I Irregular and insufficient, and when there was ' no pressure against defendant, and that it was against the rights and interests of complainant and other creditors. He states on Information and belief that the assignment u void, and was made to enable Squler to clieat his creditor* of their Just rights and claims. He states tun her that Imlth had been for a long time the clerk ot squler, and says that he Is not a competent t?er>on to adJust and settle the various and heavy claims against Squler, and that he is co-oihtatlng with Squler for Improper pur-pox-*. He further states that the accounts and books involve complicated investigations, and If pursued Individually there will be a multiplicity of suits, entailing great expense. He fun her says that squler has refused to pay the claims and debts or to reuder < an account, and they are unable to obtain relief by ordinary proceedings.
