After many days of weary waiting the lovers of the nati <nal ?port had opportunity yester day afternoon to sec a game of ball. The grounds were pretty muddy, and the sprinters were handicapped in their efforts, but the game was an extremely interesting one never theless. The score was. Washington 7. Syra cuse Stars 2. Of course the interest centered on the two new men. Morrill and Wise, the former playing third base, and the latter short stop. Carney covered first, and Sweeney played center fi< Id in the place of Hov, who was ?lightly ili. The hatting was lively and the fielding good, sevt 11 of the nine runs being earned, Twentv < ight men were left on the bases. O'Day and Ebriglit, and Murphy. Bishop and l'.riggs were the batteries. Wise led both teams in hatting with three hits, ttt" being doubles, and he made two runs and *to!e a couple of bases. He had but tw > chances in the field, accepting both of them. Siioch made ik couple of hits, and Wil luot. Mvers. Carney and Ebright each one, < arm y' being for two bases. Morriil had a busy time at third, seven balls coming his way: he put out four men. assisted at the death of two and made one error. The home team l!. i'li- hits i.nd 2 t rrors. and the Stars 11 hits and 5 error . Their difficulty lay in an inabil ity to bunch tin ;r hits. O'Day gave three b .-es on balls, struck out five men. and made mi" wild pitch. The Toronto club plays to d.;v. ? Other games? At Cincinnati?St. Louis 5. An ill-fitting Corset loox ]<eiisive at any in<-e, as it will gradually break the material of your busijue. Willi at we keep all the reliable brands of Corsets, and feel thoroughly sure of their wear, we cannot re train trom sdvising ladies to try the celebrated C. P. Corsets. These Corsets are known the world ovrr. Every first-class house must keep them. To be with out the C. P. Corset one might as well be without yardsticks to measure. Our buyer visited their factories whilst abroad and saw to his own entire satisfaction with what precision these goods were perfected, every little detail being closely watched by the overseers; no Corset wa? allowed to leave the factories until they were consci entiously looked over and pronounced finished. We keep all their brands, from $1.50 up to their best goods. It is scarcely necessary to add that they do not manufacture the cheaper grade of goods, being satis fled to leave that to the other manufacturers.
