Reance FRIDAY EVENING. I'rl?ate interviews Ualljr. ael5-tn,tb&8-28t* A MAMMAL TAXIDERMIST. Examination to Be Held for Benefit ot the National Museum. The civil service commission Is preparing plans and specifications for an examination of a man, or any number of men, who can stufT rats, mice or chipmunks. They are to be stuffed and mounted, and the person who Is being examined must do the stuffing In three working days of eight hours each, In the presence of an examiner. The call for the rat stuffer ha9 not yet been sent out, but It will be prepared within the next two or three days, and will then be scat | tered broadcast all over the country. He Is required by the terms of the examination I to supply his own tools and mounts for the stuffed animals and a box to ship them to the civil service commission, but the com mission will furnish the animals. Already the flat has gone forth, and the official rat. j mouse and chipmunk catchers are scouring the country and the city to obtain the specimens to be used. Commissioners Green and Procter are In terested In the quest, and It is rumored that as fine a collection of dead rodents Is being made for the commission, under the personal direction of the commissioners mentioned, as will be found anywhere In the country. The cause of this scientific research Is a request from the National Museum for the eligible list of mammal taxidermists?a tax idermist who can stuff a rat or a mouse or a chipmunk. It Is believed to require ex pert care and knowledge to properly stuff one of Uiese little animals, and as none of the experienced hands at the commission desired to desert their present posts It was necessary to Issue a call to the country at large, so that a patriotic rat stuffer might be found to take the Job. The examination Is to be held some time this month or next, and the man who Is certified to the museum authoriUes will receive a job to stuff num berless mammals at the salary of |y00 per annum TRIALS AT FORT MYER Two Recent Court-Martial Cases Re viewed by Gen. Corbin. Two court-martial cases recently tried at Fort Myer, Va., have been passed upon by Maj. Gen. Corbin, commanding the Depart ment of the East. Private Otto Busch, 4th Battery, Field Artillery, who was tried for desertion and larceny, was found guilty and sentenced to be dishonorably discharged the service of the United States, forfeiting all pay and allowances due him and to be confined at hard labor for one year. The sentence has been approved by Gen. Corbin. who named Fort Monroe. Va., as the place of confine ment. Private Fred A. Bowen, 4th Battery, Field Artillery, who was tried on similar charges, was found guilty and sentenced to be dishonorably discharged the service of th<- United States, forfeiting all pay and allowances due him and to be confined at hard labor for three years. In passing upon this case Gen. Corbin said: "The sentence is approved, but in view of the fact that an associate of the accused found guilty of practically the same offenses was adjudged by another court to serve the same sentence except as to the time of confinement, which was but one year, two years of the term of confinement imposed in this case are remitted. As mitigated, the sentence will be duiy ex ecuted. Fort Monroe, Va., is designated as the place of confinement, where the pris oner will be sent under guard." Army Orders. Capt. George F.
