ASSESSMENTS GO TO CREDITORS.
Decision in Asphalt Company Litiga
tion at Trenton, N. J.
A dispatch from Trenton. N. J., last night
says: The application of Henry C. Everdell,
one of the creditors of the Asphalt Com
pany of America, and H. C. Spinks. a stock
holder of that company, for an order for
the distribution among the cimpanv'l
creditors of $10,000 which Sp:nks is willing
to pay into court as the assessment on his
stock, providing such distribution was or
dered. was disposed of by Judge Kirkpat
rick today after a hearing.
Judge Kirkpatrick made an order to the
effect that the $40,000 to be received from
Spinks should be distributed among the
creditors. Spinks. as a holder of $i:?l,<KM or
the gold bonds of the company, will receive
as his share in the distribution $125. The
action today practically disposes of the
question of the liability of the stockholders
of record for an assessment of $4" on the
stock owned by them and upon which only
$XO a share had been paid. As the great
bulk of the stock of the company Is held by
the National Asphalt Company, which '.a
insolvent, the amount tiiat will be received
from the stockholders will not be more
than $r<o,00t>.
Today's decision does not dispose of the
pending suit against the promoters of the
National Asphalt Company or (he orig nal
stockholders of the Asphalt Company of
America, who assigned their stock to th?
NaUonal company.

Wheeler, U. 8. A. Mrs. Jefferson Oavis sent
regrets on account of ill-health. With two
exceptions the flags which draped the
rooms were the stars and stripes, the excep
tions being the white satin banner of the
camp and the last flag adopted by the con
federacy.
