Lecture on American Furniture.
The evolution of styles In American
furniture from the time of the lirst set
tlement In this country to the present
day was treated in detail In a lecttira
gi ven at the Public I.ibrary Tuesday
evening by Miss Florence Levy, editor 'of
the American Art Annual and organizer
of the recent Hudson-Fulton celebration
exhibit, held in New York.
The subject of Miss Levy's lecture was
"Early American Furniture," and, though
speaking of furniture in general, she de
voted most of her talk to the description
of colonial and other antique furniture.
She told the standards by which antlqu*
furniture was judged by oonnoisseurs and
why these standards were chosen.
The lecture was illustrated with stere
opticon views.
