meeting at this city next Wednesday
in the office of Gen. Oeorge Uhler, *u

steamboat Inspection service.-in the old
District building, now a part of tho
Department of Commerce and Labor.
The supervising inspectors In charge
of the ten districts in the United Statea
will be present and they will be in
session for two weeks or longer to
consider such changes in the rules as
may be suggested for the betterment
of the steamboat service and to better
protect passengers from accidents. Ia
addition to this they will witness tests
of new appliances for the extinguish'
lng of flres on shipboard and for the
preservation of life in case of accl>
dent. *
Gen. Ubler will preside over the de
liberations of the board, which will
bring to this city steamboat men front
