Ave. !>i' IQilGHTS OF COLUMBUS. v la attended meeting of Potomac Council as held Monday evening. G r.d Km-lit Diehard A Curtin, presid Th. r-rand knight presented a re s' . iji i ? work accomplished by tth's. il ? >O'.Miyi -t cimuncil in this jurisdiction, c the j.j.-t year, and urged tht i ? ? ci>-op? ration of every member In ?< ili-r that th? lecord for the enduing -a 1 might be as ? reditable. There lias ' ? ? n a substantial increase in the mern ' .ship of this council during the past council year, and its financial condition j is also in very good shap'\ The Knight's of Columbus Hall was crowded to the doors- Tuesday evening with members from the Ijve councils of this District to witness the joint installa tion ceremonies of ail the othe rs of the various Councils forming the jurisdiction of the District of Columbia. The details of the ceremonies were in charge of the officers of the State Council, the arrange ments b^'.ntj . ur-der th** supervision of I State Warden Redmond De Vane}, as dieted Ij> the various count*!,1 wardens Tli?? iwill was most beautifully decorated with Sags in iioiwr of the occasion, and it was generally conceded that the in stallation ceremonies were the most elab orate ever conducted under the auspices of the local organization. With but few ex ceptions every one of the seventy officers presented himself for installation. The installation ceremonies were conducted by Staii* Deputy Edward P. Harrington, assisted by District Deputies William P. Xormoyle aii<i John H. Pellen. and State Warden De Va my, and began promptly at X o'clock The meeting prior to the entry of the_sta4e deputy was in charge of the grand knight of Carroll Council, William J. McGee. At the conclusion of the insinuation of the officers of the councils addresses were made by the state deputy, and by District. Deputies Xormoyle ani Pollen. Addresses were t^ien delivered by the follow'.ng representatives of councils: Grand Knights Joseph A. Mudd, Washington Council; Charles W. Darr, Keane Council; William J. McGee. Carroll Council; Francis J. P.. Cleary, Spalding Council, and Richard A. Curtin, Potomac Council. Rev. Father Ketcham and Judge Wil'.lam H. De I.acy also ad dressed the joint councils, and all the addresses were received, with much en thusiasm by the 1 arge attendance of members present, s lTpon motion of Charles W. Darr, a rising vote of thanks was extended to State Deputy Edward P. Harrington for the successful outcome of his work in connection with his commlt .tj?e, in the favorable showing made J>y the local organization at the Columbus memorial ceremonies A l^rge attendance of members .and friends of the Carroll Council AssembJy was present at their Halloween, party,? w ilch 'w:as given at the hall 'Thursday evening, and a most enjoyable time was had by those participating in " the cele bration. The first meeting of the new council year will be held by Carroll Council Tuesday evening, at w hich the committees for the. year will be ann^uroed and the policy of the council for the year outlined. Grand Kn'tfht FrtScls J. P., Cleary, who Is the only new- presiding officer to be elected this, year, will preside at his tirst meeting. of: Spalding Council Thursday evening. A4 movement , is gaining strength in all the' councils looking to more commodious quarters for the organizatin in this Dis trict. Already plans are being considered looking to procuring a new building for the joint councils- It is admitted that the present building is not well adapted for the needs of the organization for the reason that it has not the requisite club facilities, which the increasing mem bership .demands for future growth ar.ct expansion. The present building was pvir?teased..ten years ago. when the local J -organization was not in . the position, ?numerically or financially, as it is at the present day. There is practically very little indebtedness on the property, for the building company has managed It economically and wisely, but the organi zation has outgrown the limited accom modations. Public Benefactor. From the Chicago -News. "She has certainly earned the gratitude of her entire set."
