WASHINGTON, D. C., -JANUARY 1, 1922.
A sedan chair wedding was recently per
formed at Hampton Court Palace, England.
The bride was conveyed to church in a sedan
chair which was over 400 years old. The best
man carried one end of the chair. The groom,
Tom Hankey, at left; the bride. Miss Angela
Nugent Heade, sits in chair.
A novelty in headgear?and, oddly enough
it does not come from Paris, but from the
Pacific coast fashion centcr, Los Angeles. The
hat, which resembles a Roman helmet, is worn
by Miss Jacqueline Logan.

Martin, seven years old,
locked the silver-mounted,
fifty-pound redwood chest
containing the nuts before
it was placed on the express
train for Washington.

Miss Violet Terwilliger, woman sculptor, working on the
second largest figure memorial to be presented by the people
of the United States to Brazil on the latter's centennial cele
bration next September. The figure is eighty-five feet high,
designed by Charles Keck.

A typical winter scene in the trawling in
dustry of Massachusetts. Photograph shows
the pilot house of the fishing boat Surf after
it arrived in port. The fishermen endure all
sorts of hardships and the industry loses many
lives each winter.
Capt. Edward C.tJ. Corsi of Brooklyn, fly
ing ace of the Kosciuzko Escadrille, returns
to America. Capt. Corsi went to France in
1915, joined the Lafayette Escadrille and later
was a member of the American flying forces.

Frank J. Burnham of Melrose, Mass., establishes a new
gasoline vehicle record. He recently drove his tractor around
the Readville track, towing ten tons, at a speed of eighteen
miles an hour.
