12 D. C. CHURCH CALLS JERSEY MINISTER Rev. Sizoo Favored for New York Avenue Pulpit, Va cant Two Years. Hev. Joseph H. Sizoo of Somerville. X. J., was unanimously called to the vacant pastorate of the New Vork Avenue I‘resbyterian Church at a congregational meeting: last night at the church. Rev. Mr. Sizoo has been the pas tor of the Second Reformed Church of Somerville for seven years. Prior to that time he Ivas located at Wal den. N. Y. He was bom in Ant werp, Belgium, some forty years ago, ..nd is of Hugonot-Holland parentage. Ho came to this country with his parents when he was a small child, sind lived at Chicago. 111., where he was educated in the public schools, and later graduat'd from the Mount Hope, College of Holland. Mich., and from the Theological Seminary at New Brunswick, N. J. After a short time in India ns a missionary, he returned to Amer ica and served the church at Wal den, X. Y. Hears (.mid Reputation. He is said to he a “pulpit orator • of dynamic force, a creator of en thusiasm in his congregation, a natural-horn friend-maker, a manly man and a power for good in the community in which he is residing." It is understood that Mr. Sizoo has already indicated his willingness to accept the call, and a definite reply from him is expected in a few days. He has been invited to occupy the pulpit of the New York Avenue Pres byterian Church on Raster Sunday, and it is expected that he will lake tip his pastoral duties here some time during the month of May. The Hutch Reformed Church has the same faith as the Presbyterian Church, and is frequently spoken of as the Presbyterian Church of Hol land. The church has been without a reg ular pastor since Rev. Dr. Wallace Radcliffe, now pastor emeritus, re signed two years ago. It is one of the largest Presbyterian congrega tions in the city, and the church building last summer was entirely renovated. DEFICIENCY MEASURE APPROVED BY HOUSE The House today aproved the con ference report on the first deficiency appropriation bill to meet anticipated shortages for the- current fiscal year ending June 30. This disposes of the bill except that tt has to return to the Senate for approval of one small technical amendment affecting the Department of Justice. The bill as passed carries $156,671, 685.5". Items Stricken Out. Two important items for the Dis trict were stricken from the bill in oor. ferenci Dtti- of these was an appropriation of g’jOO.OO" fur the purchase of the Klingle valley tract to be added to th. parkway system and the other was an item for 84.500 for the pay ment of a special counsel for the Public I'iilitles Commission in the valuation eases. Two small items for the District Wire put in the bill. One of these is fl.tiOO lor the otfiee of the recorder of deeds, which Chairman Madden told the House was in desperate straits, in order to properly conduct its business. The other was $3,000 for public convenience stations. PLAN FOR CONVENTION. Dr. W. Gerry Morgan, newly elected president of the American Congress on Internal Medicine, and other mem bers of the Medical Society of the District of Columbia will meet at the Medical building, 1718 M street northwest, at 8 o’clock 'tomorrow night to inaugurate plans for the annual convention of the Congress on Internal Medicine and American Col lege of Physicians, which will be held here next February. Brown, on behalf of his many friends in the department. Mrs. Amos C. Donaldson, chairman of the ladies’ committee, which prepared and served the banquet, and who has served in a like capacity at all of the annual parties of the department, was presented a beautiful floor lamp by Mrs. John Milstead, as a token of ap preciation of her services. Invocation was pronounced by Rev. W. M. Snyder, pastor of the Cherrydale Methodist Protestant Church. Knter tainment features of the program were furnished by the Montrose Orchestra and Ben Levin and his aggregation. The banquet arrangements were In charge of a committee headed by C. A.
