VIRGINIA HOUSE MEMBER TO MAKE 75 SPEECHES IPeery to Start Campaign in Ninth District Monday—Fight in Prospect. Pifrpat'-h to The Star. RICHMOND, Va„ September 3. Representative George C. Peery of the ninth district will open his cam paign formally Monday, at Jonesville, I.ee County, and from that time will be on the stump every day. his sched ule calling for 75 speeches before the (election. The Democrats of the State gener ally are massing their forces for the contest in the ninth, where for the first time in 20 years they were able to take charge last year. Chairman Byrd of the State Demo cratic committee announces that the Slate Democratic committee will meet about the middle of the month. He had hoped to have the meeting the coming week, but this was impossible. For one reason Senator Glass is ill and it is deemed advisable to have him on hand when the committee meets. WATER POWER SURVEY IS LAUNCHED IN VIRGINIA Commission Named By Trinkle Organizes—Will Report In 1926. i*l pispntvh to Th>' Star. I.V\i'HBURG. Va.. September 3. — The water power and development commission named by Gov. Trinkle under an act of the last General As sembly. met lure and organized for a survey of the State’s available water supply, the object being to lay the report of the survey before the next General Assembly in 1!*26. The numbers of the commission are. J. K. Horsley of Appomattox, di rector and chairman; Dr. Thomas L. Watson of Charlottesville, State geologist and Dr. A. W. Drinkard of Blacksburg, director of the State agricultural experiment station. Dr. Matson was chosen secretary of the «■ mmission.
