Everything was ail set fur the open ins tomorrow of the eleventh annual Fairfaj| fair on the local fairgrounds, dcspiti the inclement weather of the past hours. The fair will begin, rain or shine, and continue for three data, ft was announced here today by Clifton Baughlin, president of the Fairfax County Fair Association. The heavy rains of yesterday and today did not materially impair the grounds or race track, it was stated, although the track was rendered muddy for the opening races tomor row afternoon. There were no wash outs to necessitate repairs. Tilting Tourney n Fmtnre. featuring the inaugural program is an old-fashioned tilting tourna ment, an annual event in this sec tion of Virginia. tJayly-besashed Knights from nearby counti-s and f oin Mainland and the District of Columbia have been entered in the Competition, the winner or which will be awarded a grand prise and be given the right to crown the "yueen of Beauty" at a subsequent ceremony. The exhibits in the 13 various classes were being arranged and put in order today by scores of men and women. The racing and show stables were a beehive of industry, with strings of race horses arriving hourly from distant points. Truekdoads of far in products, agricultural imple ments, domestic animals. flowers, foods, etc., delivered their loads at the fairgrounds during the day. Largest Week’s Production Since i March Is Recorded. UHICAGO, September ?9.—Produc tion of bituminous coal in the United States for the week ended August was 8,719,000 tons, the largest since March, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago reported last night. Total output for the month was 34,- 765,000 tons, an increase of 2,481,000 tons over July. In Illinois and Indiana, the percent age of loss in operating time ascribed to lack of orders was smaller in March, while the number of hours worked gained materially. \ugust production of anthracite in the country was 7,086,000 tons, a de crease of 696.000 tons from July.
