Aitchison, valiantly held forth in the third concert of its fifth season at the Masonic Auditorium last night before a large audienc-e. Dainty and charming Helen Howison, lyric so prano, was the assisting artist, with George Wilson as accompanist and Myrtle Irene Seidler at the organ for most of the club members. The chorus has many fine voices and good volume, also apparent ability ti shade tones well. The rhythm was ragged in many numbers, however, and the enunciation was so muffled thal only a word now and then reached thi back part of the house, with the ex ception of the "Wynken, Blynken and Nod” number, which was one of thi best of the evening and was repeated In this Miss Howison’s voice in the obbligato was delightfully set off by the male voices, and the choral parts were. especially well done. The only criticism would be that the number was taken a bit too seriously, and its interpretation lacked that light, legato treatment that is essential in works based on fantastic themes. Another repeated number was Wilson’s “Car mena.” Miss Howison is particulars- happy in the type of ballad that she chosi for her group and her two encores. They included Munro’s "My Lovely Celia,” Pierne's “Le Moulin,” Samuels “Bells of Seville,” D’Erlanger’r "Chanson Legere” and Shaw’s “The Heffle Cuckoo Fair.” She also gave the waltz song from Gounod’s “Romei. and Juliet” with much artistry, hut her voice is a bit light for this num her, and her cadenzas were a trifle un certain.
