32 ITALY’S WAR DEAD RENDERED HONOR | Tenth Anniversary of Na tion's Entry Observed at j Rome Ceremonies. ~ Br the Atmeialed Press. ROME, May 25. —.Although a steady lain fell throughout yesterdw. the oh j a nrp of the tenth anniversary of; Italy's entry into the war surpassed j all the previous observances of the j event. A striking sight was 2"<t flags of regiments which have been dissolved since the armistice was signed. A halt was made liefore the tomb, the ap plattse and shouts suddenly ceased, j (lags were lowered as a sign of salute, ! the troops presented arms, officers , stood at attention and the thousands! of civilians fell to their knees. All eyes turned toward the tomb. ; which was heaped with flowers. After > a few minutes the solemn notes of the j "Piave Marching Song” was heard, | and then, from several hundred thou- j sand throats, came cries of “Viva j army!'* “Viva Italy!” After the diplomas were presented j the procession continued to the his- | toric Gastello Sant Angelo. whei;-3 it ! was reviewed by King Victor Kman- j pel, the Crown Prince. Premier Mus- j solini and other officials. The booming j of cannon began, all the bells of the capital were tolled and the military bands played the royal march. To night the castle was aflame with the light of 3,000 tallow torch lanterns. The wooden Newfoundland steamer Fiona, which struck on Trin ity Le.dges at the entrance to the Bay of Fundv Saturday, is a total loss, having caught fire soon after she was abandoned. The Fiona had a cargo of 8.000 sacks of potatoes for St. Johns. Newfoundland, front Oromocto. New Brunswick, and was proceeding down the bay when she struck on the sub merged ledges. Mass., May 25.—A j rotor ship propelled by a new type of i ' revolving tower has been designed by j two members of the school of naval architecture at Massachusetts Insti tute of Technology and will l>e tested on the Charles River within two j i weeks, it was announced yesterday. | | The ship differs from that invented i by Anton Flettner o£ Germs* nv, in that j j the rotor tower Is smaller in proper- j | lion and tevolves al it greater speed. ■ Only one tower will he used on the ! SUPREME COURT DOCKET IS PILING UP '. - * Despite Efforts to Reduce, More Cases Being Filed Than Can Be Readily Handled. The United States Supreme Court finds that It is not meeting with suc cess in its efforts to catch tip with j Its docket. Although the court has striven diligently in that direction, it ‘ finds that rases continue to he filer) I faster than it can dispose of them, j The outlook now is that, when the current term ends next month, there will be more c ases on the docket than It had pending for action v. lien it met last October. j As far hack as 1891.
