14 WALTER JOHNSON BUTS HOWIE HERE Acquires Hanson Property on Georgetown Road for Residence. Walter Johnson, premier pitcher of the Washington base ball team, last week acquired the Elisha Hanson properties on the Georgetown road, at Alta Vista, Md. The stile was con summated by Charles H. Heyl, jr., act ing for Maddux, Marshall, Moss & Mallory. By this deal “Barney” becomes owner of a country place, consisting of an 11-room house, situated on a tract of Shi acres, four acres of which are planted in the finest of fruit trees. The former owner, a chicken fancier, arranged housing accommodations for 2,000 chickens, and the pitching ace is much interested in this feature. The house is modern in every particular and will afford a splendid year-round residence:) The sale is taken as an omen that Walter Johnson has decided to make Washington his permanent home. Tt is pointed out that this is only an other instance of a man. able to live wherever he pleases, taking advantage of the many things offered by the Capital which are not to be found elsewhere. Whether Walter will go in for chicken raising has not been definitely decided, but it is known that he plans to spend most of the year on his coun try estate, working on the farm land during the off season in order to keep in shape. He is a keen judge of real estate as well, and has made money on every property he has bought in Washington and vicinity. The in creasing values of nearby Maryland are said to have been responsible, in a measure, for his purchase of this property DAYLIGHT TIME END SET. British to Return to Sun Schedule on October 4.
