Where there is an awning only there come single pole standards that require the mini mum space for standing supports. If you wish to save expense you can have the springs placed on wooden supports such as strong boxes at each end. When this arrangement is fol lowed, the springs must have a valance to the mattress which hides the boxes. Army Cots Easily Set Up. The next best thing to the- hammock springs arranged in either of the ways described is an army cot. This can be folded up during the daytime and put in some closet or out of the way place. If the porch is not used for sleep ing purposes, a narrow bench like those sometimes used in school rooms or in halls is well adapted to the little porch. It is so narrow that it takes up the smallest width possible. Its chief disadvantages are that it is narrow for luxurious comfort when lying down on it, and it has not the soft springiness of any of the cotk or spring arrangements mentioned.
