DISTRICT BANKERS ADJOURN PARLEY I Hot Spring Sessions End With Family Dinner. ; ( f j Cups Awarded. by EDWARD C. STONE, Staff Correspondent of The Star. HOT SPRINGS, Va., Juno 11.— The ninth annual convention of the Dis trict of Columbia Banker*' Association was concluded hero tonight with the family dinner in charge of the conven tion chairman, Lanier P. McLnohlen. Lawrence A. Slaughter and Thomas W. Brahnny. Cups for all the sports events were awarded, several gifts were presented to members for long service, and special musical talent was f enjoyed. At the final business session the council of administration was elected as follows: National bank division, Lawrence A. Slaughter: savings hanks. Frederick E. Farrington: trust com panies, Frank Stetson; State banks. Thomas B. Brahany. Deyber Is Elected. At the meeting of the members of the American Bankers’ Association, Victor B. Deyber was elected vice president for the District of Columbia for one year, and other selections were as follows: Member of nominating committee, Francis G. Addison; alter nate member nominating committee. Maurice Otterback; vice president for trust company division. Miss Mary J. Winfree; for savings banks. W. Regi nald Lewis; National banks, J. Frank White, and State banks, Maurice Otterback. William W. Hoxton. chairman of the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, addressed the convention , , briefly, declaring the banking situa tion in Washington to be ‘‘good, clean and sound.” Randolph Wins Tourney. The tennis tournament for the Cole man Jennings Cup was won by Rob ert J. Randolph, Baltimore representa tive of the Equitable Xrust Co., who defeated J. Stanley Carr, G—2 and P - B* -6. The outdoor putting Contest for women was won by Mrs. Y. E. Booker, with Mrs. John L. Newbold second and Mrs. Thomas W. Brahany third. At the final business session of the convention today. W. TYRER TO HEAD NAVIGATION BUREAU i . * Appointment as Commissioner An nounced—Controls Merchant - Marine Seamen. Appointment of Arthur J. Tyrer of the District of Columbia as commis sioner of the Bureau of Navigation was announced Friday by President Coolidge. Mr. Tyrer, who is now deputy commissioner, will take office on June 21. D. B. Carson, the retiring commissioner, has submitted' his realg f-. nation, effective June 20. Air. Tyrer. who lives at Florence Courts and Is unmarried, first enter ed the employ of the bureau in 190? as a clerk. He rose grade by grade, until he was appointed deputy com missioner in 1909. He was born in Al bert Lee. Minn. The Bureau of Navigation has juris diction over the merchant marine and ' merchant seamen, administering part of the laws pertaining to United States oontrol of vessels and sailors on Amer ' loan ships.
