26 SOURCE OF ODOR ELUDES PROBERS Health Inr. :ctors Comb Po tomac Shores, but Fail to Locate Stench. trail for the source of the stench that enveloped a large section of Northwest Washington Tuesday night led Health Department inspectors last night to the smoldering dump near the Virginia shores of the Potomac, adjoining the Arlington Horse Show grounds. While this dump helched forth great volumes of gray colored smoke which a gentle southerly breeze swept across the river and into the Potomac Park regions, the sanitary inspectors report ed that the odors which came with it were not as offensive as those of the preceding night, which had a decided •mell of burning flesh. As a result. Health Officer William C. Fowler is not quite satisfied that the dump is the offender and is reluc tant to place the blame on it for Tues day night’s ‘‘attack.” He gave assur ance, however, that it would be ob served carefully for some time, as would other potential sources. The dump odors apparently did not cover as much territory as the nau seating stench of Tuesday night, as sanitary inspectors patrolling sections outside of the Potomac Park region failed to scent anything unnatural in the atmosphere. The odors last night, too, were mild. Dr. Fowler said, in comparison with stenches that a dump is capable of producing. The Arlington County dump, accord ing to District officials, is privately owned and is used chiefly by a number of Washington business establish ments for disposal of rubbish. Dr. Fowler explained that residents in the section affected by the odors can be of material assistance to the Health Department by phoning the de partment as soon as they detect the smell. OLD IN YEARS | But Keeps Appetite Young lllL - ill An acid stomach ages people much more than the years they lire; it creates more thin and weak bodies, and faces with sallow com plexion than anything else; it causes more bad breath and carves more wrinkles of misery and age than all other evils put together! Why? Because a stomach full of acid sours your food, and starves your body. A tablet or two of Pape’s Diapepsin chewed after meals will dissolve the acid in your stomach and clear up that sour, bloated, drowsy feeling. It will help your stomach digest your food. You will get back your young appetite; you will gain weight and your com plexion will be clear and firm. All drug stores have Pape’s Diapepsin. PAPE’S DIAPEPSIN i THF, rvrvTVO stib WASTITNT.TON.
