Dorsey, i president of the association, and the re marks of Frank J Hogan, local at- J tomey. who presided as toastmaster.' The lack of speechmaking, however.; was made up for by an entertainment • program that was lively and interest- ! ing. Most of the entertainers were from the local theaters. The committee in charge of the banquet j was composed of J. C. Brown, chair man: Robert Denton and Thomas J. Howard. RARE PRINTERS’ MARKS PRESENTED TO LIBRARY World s Most Valuable Collection Is Gift of Dr. O. H. F. Voilbehr, j German Bibliophile, The world's most valuable collection cf printers' marks, 10.800 of them, has been presented to the Library of Con gress by the German bibliophile. Dr, Otto H F Voilbehr The collection of marks, which were the symbols attached to the title page of ancient books to identify the printer or publisher, has been on display at ; the library for a week Dr. Voilbehr came to Washington shortly after his exhibit opened to make the presenta tion to Dr. Herbert Putnam, librarian. In making the presentation «Dr. j Voilbehr bemoaned the fact that his ; financial position did not warrant his giving to the library also his valuable collection of 3 000 incunabula, includ ing a rare Gutenberg Bible. He stated however, that if someone could be found to pay for half the collection, he would gladly make it a part of the \ permanent collection of rare and ancient books at the library. SWEET BRIAR COLLEGE DRIVE GETS UNDER WAY A drive to raise Washington's quota «f SIO,OOO toward the endowment fund for Sweet Briar College. Virginia, got off to a good start after the successful alumnae dinner Priday night at the Mayflower Hotel. A prominent New York man has promised that if $7300 is secured here by the endowment committee he will be responsible for the balance With this announcement serving to spur the work ers. it was hoped to raise the amount needed m a short time.
