TAX APPEAL LIT FIXED AT JULY 16 Only Protests on New Build ings and Additions Figures to Be Heard. Owners of new buildings and addi tions. which arc expected to be com pleted prior to July t. have until July 16 to appeal the assessments, it was an nounced yesterday by Tax Assessor Wil liam P. Richards. The assessments of these new build ings and additions will amount to about *10,000.000 or *12.000,000. Mr. Richards said These figures are not included in the total assessment of $1,137,316,223 which was used bv the Commissioners In fixing the tax rate for the new fiscal year. "A recent addition of the land and Improvement values in the 114 field books of the assistant assessors shows a total assessment, of $1,137,316,223,” said Mr. Richards. “This does not include all of the new buildings and additions which are to be completed by July 1. “Th? assessment of these new build ings will amount to about *10.000.000 or *12,000.000. but besides the new amounts that are to be added, certain amounts are to be subtracted where ex emptions have occurred for different purposes, and during the coming year these exemptions may amount to sev eral million where property is taken over by the District or the United States. * Wherever assessments have amount ed to more than $26,000 for new or recent improvements, notices are being mailed out and the time of appeal is fixed by law until the third Monday of July for new additions only, after which the books are entirely closed and will be followed by sending out bills during August and September. “Since January l. written appeals have been filed asking for revision in assessments that were then open for review and these written appeals have been supplemented by oral hearings which are now finished. No other appeals can be considered, except those for new buildings or additions." CHILD HIT BY AUTO DIES. Raymond Moore. 2 Years Old, Suc cumbs to Injuries. Specs al Di.patch to The Star.
