EDITORIAL WRITERS RELEASED ON BOND j _______ Cleveland Newspaper Men Freed from Jail in Contempt Case. By the AssocUted Pres*. CLEVELAND. Ohio, July 18.—Freed from rountv Jail on bond. Louis B. Selt rer. editor of the Cleveland Press, and Carlton K. Matson chief editorial writer, today awaitru a hearing some time hence on an appeal from a ruling bv Common Pleas Judge Frederick P. Walther finding them in contempt for an editorial attacking an order of his j court. They were found guilty yesterday and each was fined SSOO end costs and sen tenced to 30 days in jail. After re maining in the technical custody of Sheriff E. J. Hanratty for an hour, they were released on SI,OOO bond each when the appeal was filed with Appellate Judge Willis Vickery. Smith, farmer, j living near here, in court yesterday. Smith was found guilty of driving an automobile while intoxicated and trans porting liquor. He was sentenced to four months in jail and fined $187.30, j and his license to drive revoked. He j Is to pay his fine in installments. By the Associated Pres*. CHICAGO, July 18.—Another child, this time a boy, has been born to Maj. and Mrs. Frederic McLaughlin. Mrs. McLaughlin is the former Irene Castle. Her husband 6 a prominent sportsman. The son was born Tuesday night at Michael Reese Hospital. Yesterday the baby was placed ln the hospital incu bator and doctors said it had a good chance to grow and thrive. The condi tion of Mrs. McLaughlin was reported satisfactory. The McLaughlins are parents of a daughter, Barbara, now 3Va years old. July 18.—Suit* against 10 property owners along Glebe road, one of them being the Ballston Presbyterian 1 Church, were filed yesterday by Com monwealth’s Attorney William C. doth, for the Virginia State Highway Com-! mission. The suits, which are for the condem nation of sufficient ground for the' widening of the highway, allege that every effort has been made to purchase the land at a reasonable price, but that the owners refused to sell. Others against whom suits have been filed, all owning property between Liv ington Heights and Columbia pike are - B. F. A. Myers, Mrs. Roberta L. Sutton, S. E. Cannon. A. R. Cheyney. William J.
