» Special Dispatch to The St^r.
BALTIMORE. Md., June 7.—Under
liberal receipts from all sections, the
egg market is a shade easier in tone,
and values show a slight decline, the
consumptive trade being easily satis
fied and no special activity noted by
( the packers. The egg exchange has
again notified shippers not to hold
their stock, shipping in single-case lots
being preferred to large shipments,
where stock has been held and becomes
stale. It takes freshly laid, well graded
eggs to bring top values, as all stock
not grading firsts under the candle has
to be sold at discounts. The market
closed today at 22% cents a dozen for
firsts, with hennery whites bringing a
r premium of a cent a dozen,
t With the exception of Spring chick
t ens. 2% pounds and over, which are
. scarce and meet with ready sale, the
live poultry market is easier and values
• a shade lower, the weather being too
warm for an active movement. Mixed,
colored springers, 2'*. pounds and over,
1 are bringing 36 to 40 cents a pound, and
smaller, 25 to 35, but Leghorns are not
so desirable and will not bring over
20 to 30. Demand for old hens light,
and the market, under fairly liberal
receipts, is in buyers’ favor at 22 -to 24
for stock weighing 3’-. pounds and over,
with Leghorns selling 17 and 18, while
all poor, thin fowl is neglected at 14
and 15. Receipts of old roasters in
excess of the demand and market is
very dull at 13 to 15. Young ducks in
ample receipt for the demand, which is
limited, and only fat stock, 4 pounds
and over, attracts attention at 20 to 22.
Market for guinea fowl and pigeons
holding steady at 50 to 75 each for the
former and 25 to 30 a pair for both old
and young of the latter.
Potato Prices.
Old stock potatoes are in light re
ceipt. and under a fairly good demand
the market holds firm at 2.50 to 2.75
per 100 pounds, but ungraded potatoes I
will not bring over 2.25 to 2.40. Mar
ket for sweet potatoes and yams holds
steady under light receipts, but ample
for the demand, which is limited, at
3.50 to 4.50 a barrel for the former
and 3.00 to 4.00 a barrel for the latter,
but ungraded stock will not bring over
2.50 to 3.00.
Due to continued dry weather, receipts
of native and nearby garden truck were
considerably lighter and prices are well
maintained, at the following quotations:
Asparagus. 1.50 to 3.00 per dozen for
medium to large green, but small as
well as partly white will not bring over
75 to 1.00; beans. 1.00 to 1.50 hamper;
beets. 250 to 6.00 hundred; cabbage,
50 to 1.00 hamper; kale, '4O to 50
bushel; lettuce, 25 to 75 bushel; onions,
75 to 1.25 hundred; peas. 1.25 to 2.75
bushel; radishes. 1.00 to 3.00 hundred:
rhubarb, 2.00 and 3.00 hundred, and
spinach. 50 to 75 bushel. Strawberries
from native and nearby points in lighter
receipt, and the market holds firm, with
prices higher, at 11 to 25 a quart, with
nearby berries bringing top values.
Hay and Grain Prices.

By the Associated Press.
NEW YORK. June 7.—Electrical
World reports that business in electrical !
equipment markets of the country Is j
fair and that buying during the past |
week has proceeded on a moderately
active basis. Although industrials are
said to be entering the market more
actively for large types of equipment
and foreign business is developing in
encouraging proportions in the East,
the situation on the whole "lacks snap
and vigor and seems to be riding along
with the general business depression.”
Steadily declining visible supplies in
this country continued to feature the
cocoa market this w’eek. Futures on the
New York Exchange show net loss of 30
to 40 points for the period. Supplies in
licensed warehouses declined 16,000
bags, bringing the decrease to 125,000
bags in the last month.
May sales by members of the Amer
ican Fur Mercnants’ Association totaled
$7,692,149, compared with $8,361,584 in
April.
