TRADE BOARD HOME OPENED IN CHICAGO \ Bunnell and Strawn Speak at Banquet in Grain Market Center. By the Associated Press. CHICAGO, June 11. —The Chicago Board of Trade, open yesterday for the first full session In Its new 44-story home, on La Salle street, was described ' by its president, John A. Bunnell, last night as "a year-round steady market for the products of the soil and of man, guaranteeing to every one fair treat ment and honest dealing.” The opening ceremonies of the 122.000.000 home of the greatest grain marketing center In the world wound Up with a banquet addressed by Presi- I dent Bunnell and Silas H. Strawn, dip lomat and civic leader. ‘The problems of marketing cannot , be solved by the stroke of a pen," j President Bunnell said. “The law of ' supply and demand Is still working, and Is always bound in the end to rule." Tracing the $2-vear-old history of the board, he said the grain merchants 'had tried to establish a central market -- where farmers could get fair prices, with the merchants profiting as the benefited farmers traded in the city. ' Radicals have found it possible to at tack the operation of institutions like the Board of Trade to gain a following I for themselves, he said, but the only ef fect was to impair the machinery of distribution and hurt business. "I have often wished,” Mr. Strawn Mid, “that there could be some way to deport those creatures who happened to be born here —1 do not call them citi zens because they never rise to the re sponsibility of citizenship—those parlor Socialists who, while enjoying the lux uries and liberty that generally have come to them by the industry of their ancestors, complain about conditions here, instead of doing something con structive for their country.” UPPERVILLE HORSE SHOW WILL OPEN ON THURSDAY fudges for Hunting, Pony and Re mount Classes Are An nounced.
