Tsrran drew himself out upon the wet floor of a
tunnel. Along this he passed. But now he went
more warily. The shock of the icy water had some
what cleared his confused brain. A slippery stair
way ended the passage and up this he made his
way. It turned back and forth many times, lead
ing at last into a small circular room. Curious, the
ape-man investigated. Several metal-bound cop
per-studded chests constituted the sole furniture.
