6 TH anksgiving Replete With Social Events In St. Marys County Annual Dance and Card Party Given by Alumnae of Academy. LEONARDTOWN, Md„ November 28. —Thanksgiving festivities were unusu ally Interesting this week In St. Marys County and Southern Maryland, and the numerous old homes are keeping open house over the week end. Each home is tilled with guests from far and r.ear, and many of the boys and girls •>vno attend the prep schools and col leges are home for their Thanksgiving ho!idc>s. Thanksgiving evening the annual dance and card party given by the St. Mary's Academy alumnae was held at Hotel St. Mary’s, and was a lovely af fair. many from Washington and Bal timore and the alumnae of the school attending. On the Reception Committee were the following alumnae: Mrs. M. Thrift, chairman; Mrs. Nettie Wllmer, Miss Madeline Camflier of Leonardtown, Mrs. L. B. He is the house guest of his aunt and uncle. Mr. and Mrs. Louis P. Abell, at their home on Washington street. Mr. ; Raley is the author of a volume of poems called “Medley.” He visited friends in Baltimore and Frederick be fore aniving here. Mr and Mrs. S. Paul Hayden of Mount Osborne entertained at dinner in Leonardtown Sunday in honor of Mr Bascom Broun of Washington and Mrs. Henry Winters of Dallas, Tex. Miss Miriam and Miss Anna Nathan son. twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Nathanson of Leonardtown, who are attending Western High School in Baltimore, are spending their Thanks giving recess with their parents. Until this semester they had been students i at the St Mary’s Academy, where Miss j Anna Nathanson directed the school orchestra. Mr. and Mrs. G. Morgan Knight, sr.. and their son. Mr. George Morgan Knight jr., of Leonardtown. motored to - Annapolis and then to Baltimore Thurs- , day. and were guests overnight of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Fieke at their new I home in Catonsville. Miss Marv Agnes Dixon of Washing- < ton is spending this week end as the ] guest of her mother. Mrs. Thomas A. j McKay, at her estate, Arlington, on Brettons Bay. During the week Mrs. Gilbert Dent j of Washington was the guest of Mrs. Louis F. Abell, on Washington street. Mrs. Janies Buckler of Laurel Grove, who has been visiting in Wilmington Del., returned to her home this week after a montlr’s absence. Mrs. Allison Robev of Waldorf en tertained at a bridge supper at her home in honor of 16 guests Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Simms Jenkins of Bal timore passed the week end as guests of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Hamilton. Mr. and Mrs. J. Neal Miles and their children. Os Personal Interest To Washington Residents The Woodmont Country Club gave a barn dance Thanksgiving eve, which | was preceded by numerous dinner par | ties. I Mrs. Harry Allman spent the past 1 week end in New York. The thirteenth annual charity Thanksgiving ball of the Washington Chapter of Hadassah was held 'lhanks giving night in the grand ball room of the Mayflower Hotel. Miss Beatrice Sondheim, who is a student at the Marjorie Webster School, is spending the Thi nksgiving holidays at her home in Reading, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. R. B.
