SOCIETY Reception Tonight to Members of Lower House of Congress Fourth in Series for This Season. THE President and Mrs. Hoover will be hosts this evening at the fourth of the State receptions for this season, when they will entertain in honor of the mem bers of the House of Representatives and their wives. Mrs. Hoover this afternoon will at tend the concert of the New York Phil harmonic Orchestra, when Mr. Bruno Walter of Germany will conduct. Mrs. Hoover will have guests with her. who probablv will include Mrs. Edgar Rick ard of New York, who is a house guest lit the White House. Senator Bronson Cutting and his mother. Mrs. Bayard Cutting, have been added to the long list of distin guished hosts and hostesses who have taken boxes for the concert. As brilliant as any grand opera audi ence seen in Washington in years past, and far more enthusiastic, was that to greet Ignaz Jan Paderewski in Consti tution Hall last night, when all but the 6tanding-room only sign was hung out. Mrs Hoover's box was of first in terest. and so anxious was she to have her friends share the joy of the pro gram with her that extra chairs were moved in With her was Mrs. Taft, wife of the late President and Chief Justice; Mrs. William D. Connor. Mrs. Thomas C Hart Mrs Vernon Kellogg. Mrs. Ed gar Rickard. Mrs. S*ark McMullen. Mrs. Frederick Butler and two White House aides. .. Mrs Woodrow' Wilson, wne oi mt iaie President Wilson, occupied an orches tra seat, and had with her her brother, Mr John Randolph Bolling. Several members of the cabinet and their wives were in boxes, including the Secretary of State and Mrs. Stimson, who had with them Assistant Secretary and Mrs. Francis White; Secretary and Mrs Adams, who were guests of Sena tor and Mrs W. Warren Barbour, and Secretary and Mrs. Wilbur, who enter tained Representative and Mrs. Lovett and others. Chief Justice and Mrs. Hughes en tertained in their box the Attorney General and Mrs. Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. John Lord O'Brien. The Ambassador of Poland, Mr. Ty tus Filipowicz. was not able to be in Washington for the concert, as he was engaged to attend the dinner in New York in honor of Lillian Wald, but he turned his box over to the members of the embassy staff. Occupying it were the counselor of the embassy and Mme. Sokolowska, the secretary, M. Thad deus Zazulinskl, and Mme. Zazulinski; Mme. Poradweska and Mme. Massal ska. Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Hetzel, who oc cupied the box of Mrs. Alvin T. Hert, and Hans Kindler, the conductor of the Washington Symphony Orchestra, was the guest of Mrs. Truxton Beale and Mrs. Tracy Dows. Others in the bril liant audience were Col. and Mrs. M. Robert Guggenheim, Miss Mabel Board man and the Undersecretary of State and Mrs. William R. Castle. I Mrs. James S. Parker turned her box I over to a group of young musicians, and this afternoon, for the New York Sym phony concert, her box will be occu 1 pied by a group of blind musicians and ! music lovers. Others at the concert were Mr. Frank B. Noyes, Mrs. Sidney A. Cloman, Mrs. Campbell Pritchett, Mrs. S., Wallace Dempsey, Mr. Walter D. De Clare Berry and Mr. and Mrs. Carl A Droop. Cabinet Hostesses At Home Tomorrow. Hostesses in the cabinet circle who will observe their day at home tomor row will include Mrs. Stimson, wife of the Secretary of State; Mrs. Brown, wife of the Postmaster General, and Mrs. Doak, wife of the Secretary of Labor. Mrs. Stimson will receive from 3:30 to 6 o'clock at Woodley, her home on Cathedral avenue; Mrs Brown will be at home in her apartment in the Shoreham from 4 to 6 o’clock for the last time before Lent, and Mrs. Doak will receive at the Willard from 4 to 6 o’clock. This will be the last reception Mrs. Doak will hold at the Willard, but she will receive less formally later in the season in her country home. Notre Nid, in Virginia.
