DISTRICT SUPPLY Absences of Conferees Delay Aotion on Appropriation Until Next Week. Du* to several absentees, including Senator Bingham of Connecticut, Sen ate and House conferees on the District appropriation bill have decided to post pone their meetings until early next weelc The decision was made late yesterday following separate meetings of the two groups. Senate Nye of North Dakota, chairman of the Senate conferees in the absence of Senator Bingham, and Representative Cannon of Missouri, House chairman, agreed upon the post ponement. Senator Bingham is attending the Republican national convention at Chi cago. As chairman of the Senate sub committee, which increased the Federal lump sum from $6,500,000 to $8,550,000. he is expected to lead the fight for its retention in the bill. The two houses are widely split on the lump sum item, but in recent years the Senate has succeeded in increasing the amount above the House figure. The principal fight in connection with the bill will be waged on this point, with indications pointing at this time to a substantial increase over the $>,500,000 'figure which the House Inerted. The action of the conferees in post poning consideration of the District bill indicates also that Congress may remain in session through next week. An earlier date for adjournment would necessitate a hurried call for the con ferees to meet sooner. SENATOR KING TO SPEAK Dinner to Commemorate Granting of Magna Charta.
