By the Associated Près». j HANKOW, China, June 29—Three American women and five children who were kidnaped by bandits near Kikung slian, in Southern Honar Province, last Sunday, were released today, reports from there said. The report said the bandits were holding the two men kidnaped at the same time. The men are fathers of four of the children and husbands of two of the women. They are D. W. Vikner, Mead, Nebr.. attached to the i Augustana Synod Mission, with head quarters at St. Peters, Minn , and A. E. Nyhus, Fretile. Iowa, of the Lutheran Brethren Church Mission, with head quarters at Grand Porks, N. Dak. The eight reported released are Mrs. Vikner and three children, Mrs. Erik Sovik and son, Northfield, Minn., of the ; Lutheran United Mission, with head- I quarters at Minneapolis, and Mrs. ι Nyhus and baby. Judge Gives Kansas Counties One Chance in Thousand to Collect. By the Associated Press. TOPEKA. June 29.—Federal Judge i Richard J. Hopkins ruled yesterday that Kansas counties seeking to collect taxes ; assessed against Grain Stabilization Corporation wheat should be enjoined from interfering with movement of the grain to the Red Cross or into market channels. Without making a final ruling in the tax controversy involving directly and Indirectly the right of Kansas and Its subdivisions to tax wheat holdings of the Federal Farm Board agency in the State, which, on March 1, 1931, amount ed to 20.000,000 bushels in storage in 31 counties. Judge Hopkins told Max Wyman, Reno County attorney: "There isn't one chance in a thou sand you are ever going to have a chance to collect. The idea of one j branch of the Government tying up another over a mere technicality doesn't appeal to me. I suppose the Red Cross needs this wheat for starving humanity." Dawes that the bank had obtained loans in sufficient amounts to pay off all depositors If necessary was credited with causing the stock to start upward. It reached $17 a share bid, as compared with a low of $1 bid and $4 asked Monday. The bank, Gen. Dawes said, is not to liquidate. The Congress Trust & Savings Bank, located on Wabash avenue just south of the Loop, was closed at the request of its director*. It had deposits o£ $1.300,000.
