CHURCH TO OBSERVE 9DIH ANNIVERSARY Temple Baptist Has Occupied Present Building for Third of Its History. Preparations are being made for the celebration of the ninetieth anniversary of the founding of Temple Baptist Church, now located at Tenth and Ν streets. The church was formerly known as the Ε street Baptist Church and was located on Ε street, between Sixth and Seventh streets. The present building was occupied in 1902 under the pastorate of Dr. J. J. Muir, who was pastor for nearly 35 years; the last seven years of his life Dr. Muir served as chaplain of the United States Senate. Rev. Thomas E. Boorde, the present pastor, is in the sixth year of ■service. ÏVnîr special services are being plan ned. On October β the regular prayer service of the church will take the form of a family gathering of the present and former members of the church- and congregation. Brief rem iniscences will be given by some of the older members. On the evening of Oc tober 7 there will be a reception. Fred B. Rhodes Is chairman, attended by members, former members, and friends of the congregation. Addresses will be given by 4 number of visitors, inter spersed by musical numbers, and clos ing with the serving of refreshments. Dr. William A. Wilbur, provost of George Washington University, will de liver an address Sunday morning, Oc tober 9, covering points of historical interest in the career of the church and tracing its influence on the religious life of the city. The Sunday evening program will be arranged by the direc tor of music, Mrs. W. P. Horner. ·- — ELDBROOKE BIBLE MEN WILL MEET TOMORROW Hejjular Schedule Announced by Methodist.» for Tomorrow Morning. The revular schedule of services will be held in Eldbrooke Methodist Episcopal Church tomorrow, beginning with church school at 9:30 a.m. The community men's Bible class will meet with Dr. A. J. Jackson of American University as the teacher. Dr. Jackson has just returned from his annual tour of Palestine and will inaugurate a new series of talks of a highly inspirational nature. The pastor. Rev. W. M. Michael, preaches at the morning service on "The Business of Religion," and in the evening on "Earthen Vessels." The chorus choir, under the direction of Clara Young Brown, will sing at both services. The Young People's Society meets at 1 p.m., with Miss Ellen Seiman as the leader. Special music will be a feature of this service. The Church School Board will meet for a supper conference at the church Tuesday at 6 o'clock. Officers will be elected. The midweek service will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m. The pastor will begin a series of talks on "The Bible In the Making." DR. A. A. STOCKOALE PREACHES TOMORROW Sermon at First Congregational Will Be on Topic "As the Soul "Prospereth.'' At the First Congregational Church the minister, Dr. Allen A. Stockdale, will speak tomorrow morning on "As the Soul Prospereth." New members will be received into the church. At the evening service at 8 o'clock his sub ject will be "Days of Reaction and Pro test." A supper will be served in the Sun day school room at 6 o'clock Thursday. The midweek meeting will follow at 6:45 o'clock and Dr. Stockdale will speak on the subject, "The Technique of Lying." The Sunday school meets at 9:45 a.m. Sunday. McNaughton of Boston, for 30 years representative of the American board in Turkey, will r.peak tomorrow morning at the Fall rally of the Ingram Memorial Congregational Church, Tenth street and Massachu setts avenue northeast, on "World Battle Fronts of the Cross of 1932." At the first community service of Sunday evenings of the Fall at 8 p.m., the pastor, Rev. Frederick Vining Fisher, will speak on "Puppetts, Peanut Vendors, Politicians.
