First Session on Inauguration Day Yields Number of Or ders, All Local. By the Associated Press. Sitting on Inauguration day for per haps the first time In history, the Su preme Court yesterday handed down a batch of orders between visits to the Senate and outside the Capitol to wit ness the swearing In of Franklin D. Roosevelt and John N. Garner. Most of the orders were only of local Interest. One granted a review to four Springfield, Mass.. men convicted of violating the Federal prohibition act. The defendants—Nathan B. Martin, Peter Marchelo. John Schook and John Porter—contended they had been ar rested without a search warrant. A review also was granted the Fidel ity & Deposit Co. of Maryland in Its effort to set aside the decree of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals dis charging from bankruptcy George C. Arenz of Portland, Oreg. The company contended Arenz owed It $10,000 and that its claim should be satisfied before the bankrupt was discharged. Receivers of the Minnesota St On tario Paper Co. of Minneapolis were denied a review of the refusal of the Court of Claims to grant them a re fund of $2,489,119 on income, war profits and excess profits taxes paid from 1917 to 1920. BANK ORDER ISSUED Five Virginia Institutions Author ized to Limit Withdrawala. Special Dispatch to The Star. RICHMOND. March 4—Five Valley of Virginia banks were authorized this afternoon by the State Corporation Commission to limit withdrawal of de posits. The banks were Bank of Clarke County, Berryvlle; Farmers Bank of Edlnborough, Peoples Bank of Mount Jackson, Bank of Warren, Front Royal, Shenandoah Valley Loan & Trust Co., Woodstock. REPORTERS WITNESSES FOR "SECRET" WEDDING Couple Divorced 2 Yean Ago After 25 Tears Together, Begin All Over. Bj the Auoelited Press. WENATCHEE, Wash., March 4.— "Let's get married again without let ting any one know about it." said Curtis Howell of Yakima to Mrs. Howell. The Howells were divorced two years ago after a wedded life of 25 years. "All right, but no publicity," .«he re plied. They went to the court house for a license, asked the clerk to keep it out of ths apers and requested a by stander to act as witness. They went to Justice Court and were married, asking another bystander to be a witness. Their marriage was fully reported in the papers. Both bystanders happened to be reporters. KEEPS REVENUE DEPUTIES Special Dispatch to The Star. LURAY, Va., March 4.—Page County's new commissioner of revenue, Charles N. Graves of Stanley, qualifying today, announced he will keep all deputies ap pointed by M. J. Menefee. who resigned on Monday to take a position as secre tary to Representative-elect Robertson. The deputies are Nlcodemus Baker of Springfield. Wilbur H. Miller and R. K. Wolfersbsrger of Stanley and Edwin E. Rothgeb of Luray. Mr. Graves' first work will be to begin the 1933 assess ment of property. VIRGINIA MERCHANT SLAIN BY INTRUDER Masked Bobber Shoots Down 78 Year-Old Man in Home and Attacks Wife. By the Associated Press. PHOEBUS, Va., March 4.—No clues had been found up to tonight by offi cers and citizcns seeking the masked robber who shot John Wesley Russell to death and criminally assaulted Mrs. Russell early this morning. Mr. Russell, 78, was shot down as he attempted to rise when alarmed by the noise the Intruder made In entering the room. Mrs. Russell, 68. was forced by the slayer of her husband to accompany him downstairs Into the store where the man attempted unsuccessfully to open the safe. A reward of $250 was posted. Visitors Will Give Play. BALLSTON, Va„ March 4 (Spe cial).—The Olmstead Players of Los Angeles, Calif., will present a play, "St. Claudia," <iramatized by Marshall N. Goolde, at the Central Methodist Eplfcopal Church, Monday evening. The Protestant Episcopal. Christian, Methodist Protestant and Presbyterian Churches are co-operating.
