of the Maharajah of Bikaner. Of pure India-Saracenic architecture, its beauty is like a jewel set
in the desert of Marwar. Construction of the palace was started in 1897 and it was first occupied

Elephant fighting—once a popular sport in India, but now rare. This scene is at
Udaipur, where the huge animals are still matched for an occasional holiday thrill. They
are doing their fighting here with a 6-foot wall between them so that both elephants will live
