India—where palaces are palaces. This vast and ornate specimen is the Lallgarh Palace \ of the Maharajah of Bikaner. Of pure India-Saracenic architecture, its beauty is like a jewel set in the desert of Marwar. Construction of the palace was started in 1897 and it was first occupied in 1901. « Hoetler / Pageantry in India.
