Prince Georges and Mont gomery Majorities Over G. 0. P. Are 15,500. ■ ■ —... ■■ ■■ Official compilation of the results of their year’s registration by the Boards of Election Supervisors yesterday showed the Democrats now have a majority of 5,062 over the Repub licans in Prince Georges County and a majority of 10,459 over the G. O. P. In Montgomery County. The figures: Prince Georges—Dem ocrats, 17,092; Republicans, 12,030; Independents, 616. Total, 29,748. Montgomery—Democrats, 18,820; Re publicans, 8.361; declined, 483; Inde pendents. 88; Prohibitionists and So cialists, 23, Total, 27,775. The Democratic majority in Prince Georges is even greater than party leaders expected, their most optimistic estimate of their lead ove'r the Repub licans being 4,800. In 1932 they held a majority of 3,130. Discounted by G. O. P. Some Republican leaders are in clined to discount the value of the "book majority” held by the Demo crats. but most admit it Is an impor tant factor to be considered in pre dicting the outcome of the coming election. Results of the three registration and one revision day this year further showed that about seven Democrats were placed on the books for eveiy Republican in Prince Georges County. In Montgomery County the Demo crats increased their registration by 2,209 over the 1932 registration fig ures, while the Republican party lost 276 voters in the enrollment figures. The Democratic registration this year is 18.820 against 16,611 in 1932 and the Republican registration this year is 8,361 against 8,637 in 1932. Altogether the Democratic gain in Prince Georges since the last registra tion in 1932 was 2,273 and the Re publicans 341. While the major par ties were scoring these gains, the num ber of independents and persons affiliated with other parties declined from 730 to 616 in that county. In Montgomery they increased from 578 to 594. Changes in Affiliations. Many independents, as well as a large number of Republicans, changed their affiliations and registered as Democrats. The large number of changes in i affiliations is indicated by the fact that the total number of voter* In the county showed an Increase of only 2,511 in Prince Georges, despite the 5,062 Democratic gain, and 1,949 in Montgomery against the Demo cratic gain of 2,209. The number of white voters increased considerably more than the number of colored In both counties. Democratic leaden in Montgomery County were particularly pleased with their showing in Talcoma Park, which is regarded as a Republican strong hold. Whereas the Republicans en joyed a book majority of 153 in 1932, registration figures announced today showed that the Democrats now hold a majority of 319 in the three pre cincts comprising the town. democratic Women Elect.
