COHG LIUS WILLBEUFTED A. A. A. Prepares Contracts. Payment of $300,000,000 Benefits Forecast. (Copyriiht. 1934. by the Associated Press ' The A. A. A. Is expected to seek only half as large a cut In next year's corn acreage as It did this year. The Farm Administration arranged today to submit next year's contract to farmers within two weeks. The compact, it was learned, will require signers to cut corn planting 10 to 15 per cent below the 1932-33 base acre age of 105,500,000. This compares with the 20-30 per cent cut asked this year. The cut in hogs is expected to be between 5 and 10 per cent, compared to this year's 20 to 25. Most atten tion is paid to corn curtailment. Hog numbers are already low. and officials believe they can be governed by feed control. Production Estimates. Should an overwhelming majority of fanner* sign next year's com con tract*. and some officials predict they will, expectations are that acreage will be reduced to between 90,000.000 and 94,000,000. Production, assuming an average yield of about 25 bushels an acre, would be between 2.250. 000,000 and 2.350.000.000 bushels, compared with the average of 2,600, 000,000. Either of these figures would be less than the average yearly consumption of 2.493.000,000 bushels, but officials «ay there will be about 15,000,000 fewer hogs and 10,000,000 fewer cattle at the beginning of next year, thus requiring less corn. They also declare production by farmers who do not sign contracts will probably be stimu lated by higher prices for corn and ; hogs next Summer. Balance Predicted. The 10 to 15 per cent reduction is felt to be a proper balancing point j to compensate for farmers who ex pand production. This year's con tract signers reduced acreage an av : erage of 22 per cent and the total : cut for the country was about 12 per cent. Summing up the situation, officials said "Peed requirements, hence need for feed production, during the eom Inf yetr will be under the avertce of past year, for the reason that live stock numbers will be relatively ■mall “Thus fhe corn crop In 1935 can be 13 to 15 per cent smaller than the average and still supply adequately the hog crop and other uses for com.” Benefit will be paid for 1935 on practically the same basis as this year. The total is expected to be shout the same, $300,000,000, Births Reported. Butene B. and Cornelia Roberta, girl. Frsneis I. and Marjorie ’ ambert. bar. Henry 6. and Ellen R. Mi ey. boy.
