Stride baker Suggests Schools and
Colleges Invite All to
See Classes.
American Education week, set aside
for the past 14 years for consideration
and advancement of education, will
be observed the week beginning Mon
day.
Commenting on the purpose of the
week. United Stated Commissioner of
Education J. W. Studebaker said:
“Schools exist and teachers teach
school because parents count educa
tion the most precious gift with which
they can endow tfteir children. All
men recognise these truths. Yet the
real reasons why we do what we do
often becomes lost in the bustle and
specialisation of modem life.
During Education week. Dr. Stude
baker urged all schools from nursery
schools to universities to open their
doors and Issue special invitations to
citizens to come and see their classes j
at work.
"I suggest,” he said, “that associa
tions of citizens, women’s clubs, , serv
ice clubs, fraternal organizations and
trade unions plan special meetings de
voted to education, its contributions as
well as its problems. I urge, further
more, that associations foster visits to
schools”
