CURB LIST BOLDS MOST OfADVANCE Oils, Specialties and Store Shares Remain in Specu lative Favor. BY G. A. PHILLIPS. Associated Press Financial Writer. NEW YORK, November 8.—Prices on the Curb Exchange were fairly well maintained today, although there was some profit-taking tn utilities and alcohols which unsettled portions of the list during the first hour. Trad ing was not as active as in the pre vious session. Leading oil stocks, many of which ' made substantial gains in the late rally Wednesday, continued In specu lative favor along with specialties and merchandising shares. Gains of 1 to 2 points were shown by Humble Oil, Gulf Oil, Chesebro, Axton Fisher "A," Lerner Stores and Pittsburgh Plate , Glass. Smaller advances occurred in Swift Intemacionale, Lake Shore Mines, International Petroleum, Alumi num Co. and American Cynamid “B.” A number of utilities and alcohols were subjected to moderate profit taking after showing some tendency to advance right alter the opening. American Gas held a fractional ad vance. but Electric Bond & Share, Niagara Hudson and Cities Service yielded a trifle. Distillers Corp..
