St. Mary's Alumnae Mapping Program for .Thanksgiving Dance Mrs. John Fowler to Head Reception Committee for Leonardtown Event. IEONARDTOWN, Md., November 10.—The members of the St. Mary's : Academy Alumnae Association are 1 making plans to hold their annual ■ dance and card party on Thanksgiving ' day, November 29, at Hotel St. Mary's, In this city. The Reception Commit- ' tee will be headed by Mrs. John Fow- ' 1er, the newly elected president, and the other members of the alumnae will assist. Numbers of society folk from St. Marj-s County and all parts of Southern Maryland's five counties will attend, as well as those home from prep schools and colleges and others who come home annually for the Thanksgiving holidays from "Washington, New York and Balti more, Md. Albert S. Jones of Kinsail, Va., and formerly of this city, aided by his guests. Mr. Harry F. Scott of Warsaw Va., and Mr. R. c Middleton of Ceciiton, Va., opened the Pall fox hunting season in the lower part of St. Marys County this week and have held a number of successful chases each day. They were joined by Mr William Nash of Glebe, who also augmented the Virginian's famous fox j hounds with his, as did Mr. McQuire Mattingly of Susquehanna plantation on the Ptauxent, where a number of the hunts have been held, as well as in the Valley Lee section, along the shores of the lower Potomac River. Mr. Joseph Goldsborough of Medleys Neck, well-known sportsman of Phila delphia and Southern Maryland, also took part in the hunt. This sport, which had nearly died out in this sec tion, is being rapidly revived by a num ber of the local society folk who find it full of thrills. Thirty years ago in St. Marys County fox hunting was very popular and the title, master of hounds, was handed down from father to son. Pox abound here and drag hunts are never necessary. The members of the athletic associ ation of the St. Mary's Female Semi nary, St. Marys City, tonight gave their annual Pall prom to the rest of the students attending the seminary this semester, with special invitations issued to a few outside male guests that included the cadets of the Char lotte Hall Military School of Charlotte Hall. Dancing was from 9 to 12 o'clock ρ m. in the school commence ment auditorium, which was attract ively decorated for the occasion. Those heading the Reception Com mittee were Miss Martha Johnson of the school faculty. Miss Adele Prance, principal of the school; assisted by Miss Anne Woodall Blackistone of Washington and Miss Georgia Dixon Cf Cumberland, Md. Mrs. Edward J. Edelen, wife of the State's attorney of Charles County, was host last Saturday at her home in Bryantown, with Mrs. Maurice Pow ell and Miss Mary Keech, at a shower in honor of Miss Eleanor Evangeline Lyon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam J. Lyon of Hughesville. who will be married on November 14 to Mr. George I. Gardiner, jr., of Bryan town. Mrs. Adrian Posey of La Plata en tertained at dinner last Sunday in honor of Senator Joseph T. Robinson, floor leader of the Senate and Mrs. Robinson of Arkansas and Repre sentative William T. Oliver of Ala bama. Mrs. Nell McClaugfaan of Washing ton who spent three months with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip T. Graves, at Laurel Grove, returned to her home Monday. She also visited her sister, Mrs. Mark Lathan of Clements, Md. Dr. F. F. Greenwell, mayor of this city, and Mrs. Greenwell. and Mrs Greenwell's sister. Miss Marv Lenehan vho have been spending a fortnight as the guests of Dr. Charles Greenwell and Mrs. Greenwell. have returned to their home here this week. Mr. and Mrs. John B.
