George Eberhardt Strobel, 89, the oldest Mason in point of service in the District, died Tuesday at Sibley Hospital after a short illness. Only last month he had been presented with a medal by Hope Lodge, No. 20, In recognition of 66 years of contin uous membership. Born in Washington, Mr. Strobel was educated in the public schools here and for many years operated a stove and tinning establishment on Pennsylvania avenue between Seven teenth and Eighteenth streets. When a boy he received from the hands ol President Pierce a medal for scholastic efficiency. Mr. Strobel, who lived at 523 Seventh street northeast, also was a member of Washington Commandery, Knights Templar. He is survived by three sons, George E. Strobel, Baltimore; William H. Strobel, Cabin John, Md., and Irv ing E. Strobel, Washington, and two daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Ashford, Highland Park, Va., and Miss Louise E. Strobel, Washington. Funeral services with Masonic rites will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Gawler's undertaking establishment, 1750 Pennsylvania avenue. Burial wUl be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
