DANGERS MENACED BY "QUEEN EMMA" Hollywood Pair Threatened With Death for Man Stealing. •7 the Associated Press. HOLLYWOOD, Calif.. February 5. —Two pretty Hollywood dancers were guarded by police today as authori ties investigated a strange death threat letter directed at them. The dancers were Rosemary Smith, daughter of a former journalism pro fessor at Stanford University, and Robin Annesley. Police were informed of the threat by Mrs. William Y. Dinan. Santa Barbara, Calif., mother of Robin. The letter, postmarked Los Angeles, and eent to Mrs. Dinan, read: "Waning: Midnight, February 6, your daughter's body will be found In the Los Angeles County Morgue unless •he has permanently vacated Los An geles in the meantime. To Be Taken for Ride. "She and her pal Rosy have been Out on the spot for double-crossing— They will be taken for a ride at the eame time, for they are both trying to go away with my man. "They can't treat the queen of the underworld that way and get away with it. The sooner they're gotten rid of the more certain I'll be of my bread and butter. "Below is part of letter she wrote my man—to show you we're not fool ing. (Signed) QUEEN EMMA." Attached was a slip of paper, ap parently torn from a scratch pad. On It was written, "Love and kisses, Robin." "While Miss Annesley said the note was in her writing, evidently stolen from a pad in her studio dressing room, neither she nor Miss Smith could throw any more light on the matter. Police Are Puziled. Police were similarly puzzled, though sure of the belief that jealousy of some sort was behind the note. As a precautionary step, the girls were furnished with a police car to drive to and from the studio where they are working in a musical pro duction. The girls, both 22 years old, said they did not intend to "vacate" Holly wood and would go ahead with their work. Hollywood police, accustomed to it range situations which often en velop the movie people, said they didn't know what to make of the threat. SEVEN U. S. But now, by the Jayson method—the collar is NEVER starched, is por ous, pliable and permanently neat... If you want a revelation in what collar comfort can be—by all means see the Jayson shirt tomorrow. Features of whites and fancies SEE THE FISH TANK IN OUR WINDOWS The JAYSON Collar 1. No Starch 5.
