Ideal weather is In prospect for the program of the Summer concert series by the National Symphony Orchestra to be held at P o'clock tonight aboard 4 Navy barge anchored in the Po tomac River near the Arlington Me morial Bridge water gate. The Weather Bureau last night said in dications were for a fair, cool day. Construction crews worked in shifts all during the night to complete the huge sounding board, which will act as a giant megaphone to throw the sound toward the audience, which will be seated on the parkway near the river, in chairs on the roadway through the underpasses of the bridge and on the terrace of the Lincoln Memorial. The shell, 60 feet wide and 40 feet deep, is constructed In the shape of a half globe. The most modern amplification equipment has been installed to insure the audience the best tonal qualities of the or chestra. Tickets Are Available. •Hiose persons who failed to buy advance tickets for the concert to night will be able to purchase their tickets at two booths at the entrances, C. C. Cappel, business manager of the orchestra, said. Under the stating arrangement, the entire audience will be formed into a Jan, spreading out from the sides of the barge. No seats will be outside the range of the circle. For those persons who buy tickets for the con crete steps of the Memorial terrace, cushions will be provided by attend ants. The loud-speakers give carrying power to the music. These are on either side and above the opening of the shell arch so that the volume of sound will be brilliantly dis tributed over the entire front. The inside of the shell wull be brilliantly lighted by two rows of lights, one ar ranged behind the orchestra and the other overhead. Facilities for Musicians. On either side of the shell and to the rear of the wings are the rooms for directors, soloists and players. The conductors and soloists will be on the right side facing the audience and the players will have rooms on the left. All the facilities of a modern concert stage will be available for the musi cians aboard the barge. The huge barge was loaned to the orchestra management by the Navy. It is painted in the regulation Navy gray and the color scheme of barge and shell fit in with all the surround ings architecture so there will be no visual conflict. Cappel, busy completing final details for the concert tonight, said yesterday: "We are confident of one of the most successful concert seasons ever enjoyed in Washington. The advance ticket sales indicate the lively interest of the people of Washington in good music.
