Fairfax Seeks Potential Users in Plan to Extend Power Lines. Special Dispatch to The Star. FAIRFAX, Va., July 13.—Spurred by a promise from the Rural Electrifi cation Administration of either direct or indirect aid in the expansion of electric service into all Fairfax County communities where there is sufficient demand, citizens last night launched a survey of potential power subscribers. With survey blanks prepared by officials of the Virginia Public Serv ice Co., in co-operation with a com mittee from the county, key worker* in the various rural communities In tend to gather statistics for two weeks. Last night’s meeting was addressed by representatives of the Virginia Public 8ervice Co., who explained their willingness to co-operate in the expansion program where enough subscribers are assured. The survey blanks, it was explained, do not commit any person to take electrical service if line extensions are made, but will serve rather as a check on how many are interested and what —lUlpment they would probably use 15 they had electricity. tfhtil the survey is completed, it feas emphasized, no approximate fig ures even can be given regarding the cost to the individual subscriber. MACHINES ARE SOUGHT FOR SEWING STUDENTS Montgomery F. E. R. A. Adult Education Head Makes Plea for Use of Equipment. Special Dispatch to The Star. ROCKVILLE, Md„ July 13.—The welfare sewing groups that have been formed in Montgomery County as part of the P. E. R. A. adult educa tion program are in need of sewing machines, It was stated today by Frank E. Sutch, county supervisor of the F. E. R. A. classes, who desires persons willing to lend machines to notify him at Rockville. Two of the sewing groups have already begun to function and two others plan to start soon. The in structors are furnished by the F. E. R. A. Sutch would also like to hear from persons desiring employment as gardening and canning instructors, preferably those who have had col lege training in agriculture and home economics. A large number of gar dens have been planted in the county under the F. E. R. A. program and it is planned to form classes in can ning within the very near future. M. U. COLLEGE PARK, Md., July 13 — After a lapae of several years, the University of Maryland has rejoined the American Council of Education. It was announced today at the office of H. C.
