MRS. LAURA STEWART FUNERAL RITES HELD — Passes Away at Age of 80 Years After Being Injured in Fall. Mr*.'Laura Forrest Stewart. SO, of the Wardman Park Hotel, died in Emergency Hospital yesterday of a hip fracture suffered in a fall five weeks ago at Mexico City. She was the mother of Miss Mary Stewart, assistant director of Indian education, Interior Department. Funeral services were to be held at 2:30 p.m. today from the Joseph Gawler Sons chapel, 1756 Pennsyl vania avenue. The body will be sent to Loveland, Colo., for burial. Mrs. Stewart was born near Co lumbus. Ohio, but lived most of her life in Colorado, where she was promi nent in women's club work. After the death of her husband Frank P. Stewart, she came to Washington 15 years ago to live with her daughter. Besides her daughter, she is sur vived by a son, R. F. Stewart of Cincinnati. ' ' ' ■ Owing to the death of Mrs. Harry W. Red Cross headquarters here were closed this afternoon and executives of the organization served as pall bearers at the services. They were DeWitt Smith, Harold F. Enlows. Howard J. Simons, Herbert C. Tnompson, George Smith and Colin Herrle. The body will be accompanied later today from Washington to Indianapolis by two other executives representing Rear Admiral Cary T. Grayson, chair man. They will be James L. Fieser, vice chairman in charge of domestic operations, and Richard F. Allen, manager for the eastern area. Messages of sympathy continued today to come to both the family and to Red Cross headquarters. Marquis de Li Hers, vice chairman of the League of Red Cross Societies, and an official of the French Red Cross, sent the following message: "We have learned of the death of Col. Bicknell. Sincere condolences to the American Red Cross and the family.” Interment will take place tomorrow afternoon at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. Antis Deter Hounds. BARNESVILLE, Md.f October 1.— Mrs. Virginia Ann Wood, 88, widow of Dr. Robert Vinton Wood, died Sun day at her home here following a long illness. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude W. Gough and Mrs. Forrest Gott, both of Barnesville, and a son, Roscoe Vinton Wood of Los Angeles, Calif. The funeral took place this morn ing from St. Mary’s Catholic Church here, burial being in Monocacy Cem etery, Beallsville. Mrs. Wood was a daughter of the late Thomas and Harriet Worthing ton of Frederick County. She had lived here many years. • ■ - • MRS. DIES Engraver and Stationer Was Son of Founder of Firm Here. Harry D. Copenhaver, 49, engraver and stationer at 1521 Connecticut avenue, died in Emergency Hospital yesterday after a long illness. Death followed a hemorrhage Sunday at his ' home, 7901 Orchid street. The son of William Copenhaver, founder of the firm originally on F street between Fourteenth and Fif I teenth streets, Mr. Copenhaver was born in Washington and attended the public schools here. As a young man, he entered his father's business, which he inherited 10 years ago During the World War he served with the Air Corps overseas. Mr. Copenhaver was prominent! among local pigeon fanciers. Many of the birds tthich he raised as a hobby in the model loft at his Orchid street home were winners of prizes. Tw o of his 60 or more birds were win ners in the national races at Chatta nooga, Tenn., and in the series of local races last Spring one ol his pigeons made tire best average speed for 600 miles. Mr. Copenhaver is survived by his ! widow, Mrs. Ruth Parks Copenhaver; , a brother, William, and several nqehews. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery after funeral sendees at Hysong's funeral home, 1300 N street. Final arangements have not yet been completed. _____ RITES TO BE TODAY Samuel W. Huntley. 55, World War veteran, who died Sunday at Alexandria Hospital, were to be held at 2 p.m. today from the residence of his sister. Mrs. Katie B. Mitchell. 4209 Third street. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. The death of Mr. Huntley was the result of a heart disease. Following service in the war. he had managed a farm in Virginia for several years before coming to Wash ington to live in 1929. DR. J. B.
