Of Personal Note «* 1 Mr. and Mrs. Marks Return to New York After Visit in Capital. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Marks, Jr., and their young son, Arthur Marks, 3d, returned to their home in New York on Monday after spending the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Marks at Wardman Park Annex. Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Goldsmith are again in their apartment after a two-month stay at the Everglades Inn, Palm Beach. Fla. Dr. and Mrs. Melville Fischer of 2700 Connecticut avenue, had as their guests the past week the latter’s sister, Mrs. Eugene A. Katz, and daughter, Marguerite, of Chicago. Mrs. Fischer accompanied her sister and niece to New York on Friday and are at the St. Moritz before sailing on the S. S. Kungsholm on Wednesday for a cruise through the Panama Canal. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Peyser are tpending the week end in New York. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Mueller spent the last week end at the Shoreham en route to their home in Indianapolis from a wedding trip to Nassau and Miami Beach. Fla. They were guests of honor at the dinner dance at the Shoreham on Saturday night, their hosts being Mr. and Mrs. Alvin New myer. and at a breakfast last Sun day at the Woodmont Country Club given by Mr. and Mrs. Leo Baum and Mrs. Louis Simon. Mrs. Mueller Was formerly Mrs. Jerome Meyer of this city. The annual Purim Masque ball and entertainment for the children of the Eighth Street Temple Sunday school trill take place this afternoon at 3:30 at the temple. A Purim play will be given this morning at 11 o'clock by the children. Mrs. Henry Grattan Doyle, president of the Board of Education, will be the guest of honor at the council meeting on Tuesday afternoon at 2 15 o’clock at the Community Center. Mr. Herbert Willett, director of the Community Chest, will be the guest | Speaker. Mrs. Otto E. Woerner of 2701 Con necticut avenue left Washington Fri day for a visit with relatives in Memphis. Tenn.. and Georgetown. Ky. Miss Aline Lansburgh has returned to New York after a stay at the Carl ton Hotel. The engagement of Miss Kathryn Harriette Abel and Mr. Morton Robert Koffs of Philadelphia has been an nounced by Miss Abel’s mother, Mrs. Bessie T. Abel. The wedding will take place next, nionui. Mrs. David Grotta of Reading, Pa., returned to her home Thursday after a visit with her son-in-law and daugh ter. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Kaufmann. Mrs. Kaufmann has just returned from a visit with relatives in Detroit. Miss Alice Frank has joined her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Frank, at their home in Chevy Chase after a cruise to the West Indies. Mrs. Rose Wolfe has announced the engagement of her daughter, Gladys, to Mr. Sidney J. Rosenblum of Baltimore. Mr. and Mrs. Duiibar J. Rosenthal of the Westchester have returned from a trip to California where they spent several weeks. Mrs. Manuel Weinberg of Frederick, Md„ formerly Miss Sylvia of this city, is visiting her sister and brother in law, Mr. and Mrs. Bertrand Rand In Cleveland, and her brother and sister-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Goldheim of Ontario road have returned to their home from a stay of several weeks at the Hollywood Beach Hotel, Holly wood, Fla. Miss Betty Kaufman of Charleston, W. Va., who is a student at Goucher College, is spending the week end with Miss Alice West of Woodley Park Towers and attended the Young Peo ple's League dance last night at the Woodmont Country Club. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kohner re turned the early part of the week to their home on Belmont road from a 10-day stay in New York. Miss Freddy Weinberg is leaving to day for Miami Beach, Fla., and New Orleans to be gone four w eeks. A "member bring a member" tea was given at the home of Mrs. Harry A. Brandt, 5211 Thirteenth street, on Tuesday afternoon for the benefit of the National Home for Jewish Chil dren at Denver, Colo. A card party will be held on Wednesday, May 6, at 8 o’clock at Wardman Park Hotel, pre ceded by a style show. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ullman of Chevy Chase Parkway are back from a month’s stay in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Lust left on Monday for a lengthy stay at the Miami-Biltmore Hotel, Miami, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. David Wise are in New’ York for a fortnight stay. Mr. and Mrs. W. Schlosberg of 5917 Sixteenth street, have returned from a visit to Miami, Fla. Weddings (Continued Prom First Pace.) officiated at 7:30 o'clock in the pres ence of only the immediate families and close friends of the bride and bridegroom. The bride was dressed in a powder blue silk ensemble, the coat trimmed in gray lapin fur. With this she wore a gray felt hat, gray accessories, and a corsage bouquet of sweetheart roses and lilies of the valley. An informal reception followed the ceremony, after which Mr. Furr and his bride left on a short wedding trip. Upon their return they will live in their new home at 3919 Seventh street north, in Lyon Park, Va. The bride received her education in Cleve land, Ohio, w'here, with her parents, she lived until three years ago. The bridegroom is a graduate of Wash ington-Lee High School, and is em ployed at the Government Printing Office. A wedding of interest to Southern Maryland and to Washington took place Monday when Miss Margaret Murray, daughter of Mrs. Effie Lillian Murray, was married to Mr. Franklin Morrison Haller at the Protestant Episcopal Church of St. Stephen and the Incarnation. The ceremony was performed by the rector, Rev. De George Dudley. The bride and bridegroom ' both graduated at the Brandywine fMd.), Hight School. Mr. Haller also studied at the University of Maryland. After a trip to New York, Mr. and Mrs. Haller will reside in Washington. Mr. Albert Nichols of Lurav and Takoma Park, announces the marriage of his daughter. Ruth, to Mr. Hal Hoel Watkins, jr„ of Richmond. Va. The ceremony was performed on Sat urday, February 29, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Nichols, Takoma Park, Md. Va., son of Mr. Henry Pete Clark of Virginia, which took place Saturday afternoon, Febru- j ary 22, at 2 o'clock at St. Charles’ j Church, Clarendon, Va. The bride wore ! a gow n of white satin and net and car ried a bouquet of white rases and lilies 1 of the valley. She was attended by her sister, Miss Catherine de Thierry. Organ selections were by Mrs. Pansy Andersen. The bride wore a white satin gown made with a train, carried a shower bouquet of white roses and lilies of the valley. Her veil was held by a cap of pearls. The matron of honor was Mrs. R. Gambrill, 2d, of Havre de Grace, Md. She wore a peach lace gown with matching hat and carried a bouquet of yellow roses and lavender sweet peas. Mr. Wesley D. Pearce of Alex andria, Va„ was the best man. The ushers were Mr. Ralph Segar, Mr. Robert Gambrill, 2d. and Mr. Kermit Mohn. • Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Segar, 2011 North Ute street, Clarendon, Va. ANNAPOLIS, Md„ March 7.—The Superintendent of the Naval Academy and Mrs. David P. Sellers gave a dinner on Friday evening at the super, intendent’s quarters at the Naval Academy. Mrs. Roscoe C. Bulmer, widow of Capt. Bulmer, left Thursday for a motor trip to Florida. Mrs. Bulmer will stop at Charleston, S. C.. en route and will be at the Villa Mar garetta and from there will go to Jacksonville and then to Boco Rotan, where she will be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvanus Stokes of South River, Annapolis, at their Winter home. Mrs. Bulmer will visit New Orleans before returning to her home here and w'hile in New Orleans will be the guest of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles Poor. Miss Isabel Brumby, daughter of Rear Admiral and Mrs. Frank H. Brumby of the Naval Operating Base, Hampton Roads, Va., will be the guest this week of Mrs. Graeme Bannerman. wife of Lieut. Comdr. Mrs. Forde A. Todd, wife of Capt. Todd, commandant of midshipmen, returned Wednesday to Newport, R. I„ after a few days spent at her home here. Capt. and Mrs. Todd’s son, An drew Todd, is still ill. He is a stu dent at St. George’s School at New port. Capt. and Mrs. H. Kent Hewitt and their two daughters moved Sunday from the quarters they have been occupying for the past three years on Porter road at the Naval Academy, to Carvel Hall, where Mrs. Hewitt and daughters will remain until June. Capt. Hewitt expects to leave Annap olis Wednesday. He will then go to the West Coast, where he will take command of the U. S. S. Indianapolis. Friday afternoon Comdr. and Mrs. Laurance T. Du Base gave a farewell tea for Capt. and Mrs. Hewitt at the quarters on Upshur road. Capt. and Mrs. Bryson Bruce gave a cocktail party on Friday at their quar ters on Porter road. Comdr. and Mrs. John H. Shafroth, jr„ gave a dinner Friday evening be fore the first performance of the Navy relief show, "The Drunkard,” which was given at Mahan Hall.
