By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, April 9.—Reports were current in usually well-informed cir cles today that the disparity existing for the last six weeks in the domestic I copper price would be ironed out early next week, when all major fabricators would quote the metal at 9 Vi cents a pound. For around two months Phelps Dodge Corp. and Anaconda Copper Mining Co. have been quoting copper at 9 Vi cents a pound, while Kenne cott Copper Co., American Smelting & Refining Co. and American Metal Co. have been quoting 9V4 cents. Officials of both Kennecott and American Smelting declined to dis cuss the reports that circulated in trade circles that they would come up to the higher level at the begin ning of next week. The only definite information avail able on the subject today was the an nouncement of Phelps Dodge Copper Products Corp., Anaconda Wire Sc Cable Corp. and General Cable Corp. that effective at the close of business Monday they would advance the price of bare and magnet wire products on the average of V4 cent a pound.
