PLAYGROUND PLEA TO BE WEIGHED Burleith Citizens Told Considera tion Scheduled—Mrs. Hopkins Lauded. The Burleith Citizens’ Association last night indorsed a resolution com mending the work ol Mrs. Archibald Hopkins in civic affairs of Washing ton. Speakers cited her efforts in creating the Home for Incurables, her campaigns to eliminate alley dwell ings and her other civic achievements. The group approved action of the Du pont Circle Citizens’ Association pro posing to erect a memorial in her honor, and members were urged ta I support this plan. Lieut. Comdr. R. Montgomery, chair man of the Committee on Playgrounds reported that Director of Planning John Nolen, jr., of the National Capi tal Parks and Planning Commission had informed him that the associa tion’s request for a temporary play ground, to serve the area in Burlelth west of Thirty-fifth street this Sum mer, and the proposal of a perma nent playground for this area, would be up for consideration Friday morn ing. The proposal to Indorse a plan to create a Fiscal Relations Committee for the District was referred to an in vestigation committee, with recom mendations for a report at the next meeting. Mrs. Douglas Reed, chairman of the Committee on Entertainment, an nounced a dance and card party would be given by the association Friday night at the Kenwood Country Club. Kidnapers Fought. Herbert Mor rison, labor member of the British Parliament, said last night in an ad dress for radio delivery, that had the World War allies been less harsh with Germany, Nazis never would have ascended to power. He spoke on the Columbia network. "At Versailles in 1919 a savage and revengeful peace was dictated by weary statesmen,” he said. “The British people are now con scious of the crime of Versailles. Had the allied governments been as kind to constitutional German governments as many people are now willing to be toward the Nazi government, this cruel dictatorship would never have triumphed.” Death Sentence. Upheld. OLYMPIA, Wash., April 15 UP).— The Supreme Court yesterday upheld the conviction and death sentence of Leo Hall for the Erland's Point "mass murders" of six persons two years ago.
