MOTHER’S DAY SERMON FOR CHRISTIAN CHURCH Dr. Miller Lists Topics • Of Sermons ‘What Are Y ou Afraid Of?’ Theme for Eve ning Talk. J^R. RAPHAEL HARWOOD MILL ER, minister of the National City Christian Church, will speak tomor row morning on "God’s Tenderest Gift: Mother.” At the evening serv ice he will use for his theme, "What are You Afraid of?” Gen. G. O. Sherrod, teacher of the Everyman’s Bible Class, announced lor his lesson sermon "Mothers of Yesterday and Mothers of Today.” Dr. Roscoe R. Hill, president of the class, who has just returned from a .trip to the South American countries, will preside. The Mother and Daughter banquet of the church will be held on Mon day at 6 o'clock at the social hall, 1308 Vermont avenue. Dr. Miller will resume his Thurs day church fellowship dinner lec tures on the Book of Acts next week. His subject will be "The Church That Would Not Die." Dinner will be served by reservation in the social hall. The public is invited. YOUTH OF PARISH TO HEAR SERMON At the Incarnation Lutheran Church tomorrow at 11 a.m. the pastor, Rev. Henry Manken, jr„ will preach the fourth in a series of sermons ad dressed to the youth of the parish. His theme will be “Some Pitfalls of Today and How to Avoid Them.” At 7:30 p.m. a Young People's Lu ther League service will be held com memorating Mother's day. Cradle Unit To Conduct Dedication “The Woman Who Was Called Great” Sermon Subject. J^EV. W. S. The special Mother’s day speaker at the Chapel of the Redeemer, Glen Echo, tomorrow morning at 9:30 o’clock will be Representative Edith Nourse Rogers of Massachusetts. There will be a May festival at the chapel Friday, beginning at 8 p.m., with a brief service, during which the chapel’s Queen of the May, Miss Mil dred Bradshaw, will be crowned. This will be followed by the Spring party in the Fire Department Hall at Glen Echo. -• Takoma Park Baptist. Mother's day will be observed to morrow. The pastor, Rev. William E. La Rue. will give a sermon on "Our Mothers” at the morning service. One of the children from each of the departments of the Sunday school will give recitations. At the evening service the pastor will speak on "Understandest Thou?” This will be preceded by a tea at 5:30 given by the young people as a tribute of affection to their mothers.
