| TO OPEN TUESDAY ••Showboat Cruise” on City of 1 Washington Will Be Taken ^ Down Potomac. 1 The opening of the Summer boating season on the Potomac will be cele - bratec Tuesday night when the Steairxr City of Washington casts oil at B:X) p.m. from the Seventh Street I. I. Wharf on the first "Showboat Cruise” sponsored by the President's Cup Re gatta Association. The cruise -will be preceded by a half-hour concert on tM| wharf by the Police Boys' Club Band of 60 pieces under the leadership of Bandmaster Clinton J. Brown, Jr. A convoy of local power boats will accompany the Oold Cup Showboat out of the harbor. Gangplank prises, deck amusements and carnival at tractions have been arranged by the Sponsors’ Cwmmittee, of which Harold Allen Long is chairman. The commit tee Includes William J. McManus and Harold O. Haydon, vice chairman; Mrs. Helen Ray Hagner, Eugene U Vidal, Carter Barron, John Saul, Dr. Sterling Ruffin and Edgar Morris. Dancing on deck will continue through the evening and a floor show is scheduled, with Cordon Hitten mark as muter of ceremonies. Photographic Club to Meet. The Wuhington Photographic Club will meet at the Mount Pleasant branch of the Public Library Wednes day at 8 p.m. The program will in clude an exhibition of pictures taken by members of the society. HOOVER TO SHARE HONORS AT P. M. C. / F. B. I. Chief and Gen. Conner Will Witnes* Military Maneuver*. J. Edgar Hoover, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and MaJ. Gen. Leon Conner, chief of the United States Cavalry, will be honored with special military man* euvers when honorary degrees are con ferred on them by Pennsylvania Mili tary College at Chester on June 9. Hoover will receive the degree of doctor of laws and Gen. Conner the degree of doctor of military science, j Honored with them will be Dr. Nor man E. McClure, head of the English department at Ursinus College, who will receive the degree of doctor of literature. The cadet battalion will be reviewed by Hoover and Gen. Conner at the opening of military exercises on the campus in the afternoon, following conferring of the honorary degrees in the morning. They will be honor guests later at a sham battle, which will include a cavalry foray against an infantry poet. It is expected an United States Cavalry unit will par* tlclpate in this engagement. / P. M. C.'s 115th annual commence ment ^season will open Friday, when the cadets enter their annual camp of military instruction at the reserva tion of the Pennsylvania National Guard at Indian town Gap, Pa. The camp will be called Henry D. Thoma son. in memory of the late Col. Thomason, class of 1879, New York City. ST. ALBAN’S SCHOOL TO HOLD EXERCISES 27th Commencement Scheduled Saturday in Great Choir of Cathedral. St. Alban’s School, the National Cathedral School for Boys, will hold its twenty-seventh commencement ex ercises next Saturday at 10 a.m., in the Great Choir of Washington Ca thedral, It was announced yesterday. William R. Castle, former Under secretary of State, will deliver the bac calaureate address. Prizes for the year will be awarded at 11 a.m. at the Peace Cro68, after which the class of 1938 will dedicate its window in the Lane-Johnston Building and the class of 1911 will dedicate an anniversary gift In the Little Sanctuary.
