The couple married shortly after winning Allen’s contest last Fall The mirth-provoking adventures o! Willie and Eugene Howard, musical comedy stars, and Fifi D’Orsay, popu lar French singer, will be featured dur ing the “Folies de Paree’ program or WMAL at 7. The trait of resourcefulness of the American citizen will be the theme ol the “Cavalcade of America” drama on WJSV at 7. Incidents in the California gold rush of 1849 and the work of the modern Coast Guard will be featured Lucy Monroe, soprano, will make hei fiftieth appearance on the “Lavendei and Old Lace” program on WMAL al 7:30. She will be assisted by Frank Munn, tenor; Gustave Haenschen’i Orchestra and the Amsterdam Chorus Three songs by Buzzia-Peccia, Mes sanger and Benedict will be the high lights of Lily Pons’ recital on WJSX at 8. Her first number will be “Little Birdies.” This will be followed by “SI Jose Aimez”’ and “La Capinera.” NEW AID FOR BLIND OBJECT OF PARLEY A new era for the blind, especially those who lost their sight in adult life, was in the course of preparation here today between representatives of the two largest English-speaking na tions in the world. Sir Ian is accompanied by Lady Fraser. i It is the purpose of today’s meet ing to lay the groundwork for'stand ardization of both the Braille and Moon systems of touch reading and the recently developed "talking books.” By co-operation, the cost of produc tion and distribution will be greatly decreased, in the opinion of the British representatives. It was suggested that for each 100 books made in either country 10 be made for the other. NEBRASKA UTILITIES AGREE TO DELAY SUIT By the Associated Press. Jerome Frank, P. W. A. attorney, said today an agreement had been reached with attorneys for five Ne braska utility companies to postpone indefinitely the trial of an injunction suit involving a $56,000,000 Nebraska State-wide public power system. Although no date for the trial has been agreed upon, Frank said, the case probably would be heard by the District Supreme Court in November. In making the agreement, the Pub lic Works Administration consented to a slight enlargement of a tem porary injunction already in force. C. the ques tion of "What Do the Dictators Want?” The women scheduled to take part In the program are Anne O’Hare Mc Cormick, special correspondent for the New York Times; Princess Helga Brynhlld Maria, an exile from Ger many; Dorothy Thompson, author, journalist and radio commentator, and Vera Mlshelef Dean, editor and re search associate of the Foreign Policy Association. Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin will be the chief topics of conversation. Tha women will discuss in particular the question whether the course of empire is shifting from west to east—to a German empire in Central Europe and an Eastern empire under Italy. AH of the women have had personal experience in Europe. Mrs. McCormick has Just returned from Italy, Germany and England; Princess Maria is a re cent arrival in the United States and Miss Thompson spent many years in Europe, the culmination being her banishment from Germany. A MUSICAL salute from America to the Queen Mary at sea is the latest program of a series in which N. B. C. will broadcast in connection with the liner’s maiden voyage to the United States. The special broadcast Is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday. BABCOCK RESUMES ATTACK ON ABUSES Head of U. S. Employes’ Group Cites Shortage in Appro priations. President Claude Babcock of the American Federation of Government Employes today continued his attack on civil service abuses with a statement that the Board of Actuaries of the civil service retirement fund have re»* ported a serious shortage in appro priations from the Government. The actuaries’ report. Babcock declared, bears out his contention that Federal appropriations must be substantially increased. S % The A F. G. E. president, mean while, was censured by the members, of the A. A. A. Lodge, No. 116. of the organization, who condemned Bab cock’s “partisan affiliation’’ and as serted it is the policy of the lodge and of the federation “to be non-partisan in all its discussions and policies.” Objection was msde specifically to distribution through the Republican National Committee of Babcock’s at tack on civil service abuses. In his statement today, Babcock re viewed his stand at the 1934 conven tion of the federation, when he de clared the retirement fund lacked ade quate support.
