CHILDREN TO GET 80 Stations Will Be Set Up by Playground Su pervisor. Washington youngster* will spend the next beat wave playing under cooling showers right out on the street. Miss Sibyl Baker, playground super visor, announced that, beginning to day, nearly 80 street shower stations will be set up on 18 routes, with a guard assigned to each route. The guards will operate the street show ers half an hour dally at each sta tion on a regular schedule beginning at the first hydrant on the route at 10 a.m. The streets will be closed during the allotted periods. The showers will be operated five days a week during the Summer. Miss Baker, who devised the sched ule in co-operation with Police In spector L. X. H Edwards, said: "We feel that we have started a program that will do a great deal toward aiding the children here dur ing the Summer heat. It could not have been established, of course, with out the co-operation of the police.” Attached to Hydrants. The showers will be attached to lire hydrants near school and municipal playgrounds. It was also announced today that the department s learn-to-swim cam paign has been transferred from Georgetown playground pool to Rose dale pool, where classes will be con ducted all week. The campaign will be concluded next week at the How ard playground. Classes will be held daily from • a.m. to 4 p.m., with adult instruction from 7 to 9 a.m. and * to 6 p.m. All children on playgrounds In the vicinity of McKinley High pool will attend classes there from 9.30 to 10:16 a.m. this week Schedule of Operation.
