BY 4 MORE FIRMS Llggett’s, Airlines Office, Electrical Co. and Laundry Give Extra Pay. Four more Washington companies today joined the long list of concerns which have announced Christmas bonuses for their employes. They are Iiiggett's Drug Stores, the Washington office of Eastern Airlines and the Miller-Dudley Co., automotive and commercial electricians, 1716 Four teenth street, and the Elite Laundry Co. Employes of the drug company earning $25 or less a week will Teceive a week's salary, while those in the higher-salaried class will get a flat $25. This applies to all employed prior to January 2, 1936. Those hired subsequent to that date and before November 28 will receive a "half share” in the bonus. Approximately 60 employes of the airlines office here will benefit from the bonus plan announced by J. H. Kindleberger, president of North American Aviation, of which the line is a division. The bonus, based on length of serv ice and amount of pay, will range from $35 to $50. Flying personnel will not participate in the bonus be cause of recent increases in pay. All employes of the Miller-Dudley Co. will receive a week's pay, and additional bonuses will be given those with a long record of service with the concern. Elite Laundry will pay bo [fuses to all employes, some payments ranging as high as $150 for veterans. Alto gether, about 400 workers will receive the extra Christmas funds. ROCKVILLE, Md„ December 22.— Motion of defense counsel for a new trial in the case of Donald Parker, 27, colored, convicted of first-degree murder In the slaying of Horace Wa ters, Germantown storekeeper. In 1032, was argued in Montgomery County Circuit Court today. Parker, already serving life sen tence in the State prison for par ticipation in the murder of another storekeeper, John T. Geary, jr., in Prince Georges County in 1934, was convicted last week in the Waters slaying. He testified his companions in the Geary case, wno were executed while his sentence was commuted to I life, were with him in 1932 when Waters was murdered. Walter W. Dawson. Parker? attor ney, based his plea for a new trial on grounds the evidence teas not suffi cient to sustain the verdict of guilty of first degree murder. Parker, not yet sentenced In the Waters case, was brought here to day from the State prison to be pres ent while the motion is argued. The earliest English reference to spoons Is in a will dated 1259. LIQUOR DELIVERIES IN MARYLAND HIT Ban on Advertising of Service by D. C. Stores Asked of A. B. C. Board. SILVER SPRING, Md., December 22.—Co-operation of the District Al coholic Beverage Control Board in preventing District liquor dealers from advertising free delivery service to Maryland residents was sought today by the Montgomery County Liquor Board. The Montgomery board, meeting here yesterday, again took note of ad vertisements in Maryland newspapers by District liquor stores, stating the hours of delivery service. The Dis trict board wiU be asked to request Washington stores to specify they are not permitted to deliver in Mary land, Ralph S. Fowler, chairman of the Montgomery board, aaid. The board denied the petition of Peter Fritz, proprietor of an inn near Wheaton, for reinstatement of his wine and beer license suspended No* vember 30 because of irregularities in zoning regulations. Fritz asked reinstatement because he operates a restaurant. The United States Department of Agriculture reports 189.000 acres of Louisiana farm lands are being im proved.
